ActiveIllinois Baptist State Association is accepting resumes for the position of Camp Manager at Streator Baptist Camp and Retreat Center. Streator Camp is located in a beautiful rural setting in Northern Illinois just outside of Streator. This past year, Streator Camp hosted 80 groups and 2,400 campers.
This is a full-time position (salary $55,000 – $65,000) with good benefits. Housing and utilities are provided through a camp manager’s residence.
- Job Essentials
1. Camp Maintenance
a. Maintain all camp buildings and grounds. Display wisdom regarding properly fixing items personally, calling in professionals, or enlisting skilled volunteers.
b. Present a clean and organized camp (inside and out) to guests and visitors.
c. Keep an updated project list and present the list to the Associate Executive Director each month.
d. Strategize for future projects when timing and budgets are allowed. - 2. Camp Ministry
a. Promote use of the camps to IBSA churches as well as other groups who may use the facility.
b. Keep in touch with those groups and individuals who are willing to donate their time and resources to the camp.
c. Ensure the camp maintains a good, Christian atmosphere for those attending. - 3. Camp Management
a. Enlist and oversee the staff at the camp. Maintain accurate and complete employment paperwork. Train staff on how to use Paylocity for timekeeping and paid leave where applicable. Make sure all staff receive proper training for their position, including food safety, child protection, first aid, or lifesaving certifications where applicable.
b. See that the financial resources of the camp are used properly and wisely. Maintain ongoing communication with the Operations Team to process receipts and approve disbursements on behalf of the camp from the Springfield office in a timely manner. Help to design and implement effective internal controls over financial processes at the camp, including but not limited to controls over cash. Review and classify the camp’s General Ledger from AccuFund to ensure camp records agree with those maintained in the Springfield office. Provide financial reports as requested by the Associate Executive Director. - 4. Camp Expansion
a. Work diligently toward the growth of the camp
i. Spiritually – as a destination for life transformation.
ii. Numerically – as the participation numbers of groups and individuals (especially those of IBSA churches) grow each year.
iii. Financially – as the camp makes progress toward financial self-sufficiency.2. Miscellaneous
a. Attend monthly “All Staff Meeting” and “Camp Manager Meeting” (commonly held on the same day in Springfield).
b. Meet with the Associate Executive Director once a month at the camp.
c. Other duties as assigned by the AED or Executive Director.
