Family Church is a growing, multi-generational church in Port Charlotte committed to leading people to KNOW Christ, teaching them to GROW in Him, and equipping people to SERVE Christ.  Guided by an elder-led leadership structure, with the support of deacons and ministry staff, we seek to lead biblically, steward faithfully, and serve together. We are seeking a Pastor of Student Ministries who loves Jesus, connects well with the next generation, and is passionate about making disciples, equipping leaders, and helping students grow into lifelong followers of Christ.

Family Church offers a competitive total compensation package of $80,000, which includes salary, housing allowance (as applicable), benefits, and other approved compensation elements. This package reflects our desire to care well for our staff while stewarding church resources responsibly and supporting long-term ministry effectiveness.

Job Title:                       Pastor of Student Ministries

Reports To:                  Executive Pastor

Position Status:         Full-Time Regular—Exempt

Position Summary:  The Pastor of Student Ministries is responsible for overseeing all ministries related to middle and high school students. As a staff pastor, he will also actively serve as an elder of the church, participating in the spiritual leadership, shepherding, and oversight of the congregation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral care to students & their families

  • Oversee all Bible study classes for students, as well as all other ministries to these individuals.  This includes, but is not limited to, selection of curriculum, enlistment and training of volunteers, calendar planning, space utilization, record keeping, in-reach to members and outreach to guests, and whatever else is deemed necessary to our goal of “making disciples.”

  • Develop, plan, and implement ministries that teach, equip, and engage students and their families in local, state, national, and international missions.

  • Develop and maintain a visible, Christ-centered presence within local schools by building healthy relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and families, while creating outreach opportunities that connect students to the ministry of the church

  • Collaborate and cooperate with other staff members in helping with all ministries of the church

  • Conduct counseling sessions (although this will be a very limited amount of your time each week), officiate wedding ceremonies and funeral services, assist with peace-making / conflict resolution efforts, minister in crisis situations

  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive/Lead Pastors

Qualifications:

  • A born-again Christian with a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is reflected through your godly character, biblical priorities, healthy marriage and family, and wise stewardship.
  • Ordained Minister, spiritually gifted to pastor those under your care
  • Southern Baptist affiliation, supportive of The Baptist Faith and Message and SBC missions
  • Seminary-trained, conservative and evangelical, with at least 3 years of relevant ministry experience
  • Leadership skills that are reflected through your servant heart and ability to cast vision, enlist and equip volunteers, collaborate and build consensus, effectively organize the ministries you oversee, serve cooperatively and submissively with fellow staff members, and an exemplary work ethic
  • Communicate biblically, professionally, and graciously with individuals and groups through public speaking, meetings, private counseling, and written correspondence
  • Be detail-oriented, flexible, and decisive, with the ability to organize and coordinate work, set priorities, delegate, and meet deadlines.
  • Submissive to the Lord and the authorities God has placed in your life
  • Adhere to the church’s Bylaws and the Employee handbook
