ABOUT MARANATHA BAPTIST CHURCH

Maranatha Baptist Church is a dynamic, fast-growing ministry located in Queens, NY. Our mission is to be deeply rooted in Christ, the church, and the community. We intentionally cultivate disciple makers and ministry leaders while faithfully expanding through church planting for all nations. As a multiethnic church, we aim to effectively reach all peoples in our neighborhood for Christ and multiply our impact through church planting in NYC.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Associate Pastor plays a crucial role in implementing the church’s vision across all ministry levels. While ultimately accountable to God, the Associate Pastor works under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and collaborates closely with the Board of Elders.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate should meet the following qualifications:

1. Faith and Character:

• Evidence of a committed, mature, and deepening relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Will reflect the biblical qualifications for overseer in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 as well as a spirit of humility and servanthood called for in Matthew 20:25- 28 and 1 Peter 5:1-4.
• Affirms the Baptist Faith and Message (2000)

2. Education and Experience:

• Holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a ministry-related field.
• Is an ordained minister
• Has a minimum of 2 years of pastoral experience.

3. Calling and Teachability:

• Has a clear calling to pastoral ministry.
• Remains open to continuous learning and growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Pastor’s specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Preaching and Teaching:

• Assist the Senior Pastor in preaching and teaching during worship service and bible study.
• Participate in sermon planning and teaching curriculum development.

2. Discipleship and Leadership Development:

• Engage in intentional discipleship with church members.
• Develop and mentor emerging leaders within the congregation.

3. Ministry Coordination:

• Lead or coordinate various ministries (e.g., youth, small groups, outreach).
• Ensure alignment with the church’s mission and vision.

4. Church Missions and Internship Program:

• Organize and lead local mission initiatives within the community.
• Oversee the summer internship program, equipping young leaders for ministry.
