ActiveRocky Hock Baptist Church, located in Edenton, North Carolina, is seeking a full time Youth Pastor to lead, disciple and grow an already thriving youth ministry. We are searching for a Pastor whose heart’s desire is to lead students to salvation and to continue mentoring them as they mature in their faith.
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Job Requirement: 40+ hours weekly
Principal Function:
The principal function of the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries is to lead and grow the Student Ministries of Rocky Hock Baptist Church by providing clear leadership, vision and direction to middle school, high school, and college/career students, as well as to their families. This position will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all student ministry programs, events, and discipleship initiatives to foster spiritual growth and meaningful engagement within the church and community, while providing direct supervision, leadership, and support to the Children’s Director to promote alignment and continuity between children’s and student ministries. Additionally, this position will also assist the Senior Pastor with all pastoral ministries.
Specific List of Responsibilities:
Students, Grades 6-12
Develop and implement a variety of ministry opportunities that will meet the needs of middle and high school students and their families in the church as well as in the community.
Connect with local middle and high schools to offer support services that will allow the ministry access to the campus.
Lead the following programming:
• Middle and high school age Sunday School classes
• Sunday PM ministries for students
• Wednesday night activities for students
• Outreach and Evangelism for students and families
• Disciple and mentor students
• Church Basketball committee
• Other activities (youth VBS, camps, mission trips, retreats, recreation …)
Guide in the selection, enlistment and training of middle and high school Sunday School workers in coordination with the Associate Pastor of Worship and Discipleship and the Nominating Committee and in consultation with the Senior Pastor.
In coordination with the Associate Pastor of Music and Discipleship; lead, plan, guide, and support Sunday School for middle school, high school, and college/career students in the following:
Promote an effective Bible study program and develop and maintain monthly teacher meetings/check-ins.
Promote and emphasize importance of all teachers being on-time identifying stand-ins when unable to attend.
Give direction to the selection and proper use of literature.
Assist teachers in determining resources and supplies needed and procure these items.
Assist church secretary in distribution of literature.
Notify Property & Grounds Committee of any needs or problems with Sunday School rooms.
Provide the direct line of communication to middle and high school Sunday School teachers to reach, teach, and minister to students and their families.
Assure update of RHBC Youth and College and Career Ministry social media platforms (i.e. Facebook) to keep Youth. Youth families, and College and Career members informed and up to date on ministry opportunities.
Support the spiritual growth of students through discipling them and their parents.
Serve as Ex Officio on the Youth Ministry Team.
College/Career
Develop a ministry strategy for students moving from High School to College/Career in which to keep them involved in the overall ministries of RHBC.
Develop and implement ministry opportunities that will meet the needs of college/career students in the church as well as in the community.
Connect with local colleges and universities to offer support services that will allow the ministry access to the campus.
Provide leadership to the following college programs:
College/Career age Sunday school Classes
Bible Study for college/career students
Outreach and evangelism for college/career students
Disciple and mentor college/career students to become servants and leaders with RHBC
Other activities (retreats, recreation…)
Guide in the selection, enlistment and training of Sunday school workers in coordination with the Associate Pastor of Worship and Discipleship and the Nominating Committee in consultation with the Senior Pastor.
Facilitate team(s) to accomplish the goals.
Other general responsibilities:
Provide Christian leadership that recognizes God, our Father, His son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirt.
Be an accountable steward with the resources that God has provided to the ministries at Rocky Hock Baptist Church (Matthew 25:21).
Be accountable in living in such a way which glorifies Jesus and furthers the mission and ministry purposes of Rocky Hock Baptist Church (Colossians 3:23-24).
Keep growing in ministry by annually attending conferences, conventions, and continuing education.
Fill the pulpit in absence of the Senior Pastor.
Keep open communication with the Rocky Hock Baptist Church Ministers and the Youth Ministry Team.
Annually, submit the Youth Ministry budget to the Finance Team and adhere to the annual church budget.
Perform other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Basic personal responsibilities:
In addition to normal responsibilities, the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries is a member of a ministry team dedicated to Christian service and shall therefore seek at all times to conduct himself in such a way that would be pleasing to the Lord.
Adhere to church approved guidelines as set forth in Rocky Hock Baptist Church By-laws and RHBC Employee Handbook.
Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer and meditation as well as develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside of the church.
