Part-time Youth Minister Job Description
Position Overview:
The youth minister is responsible for leading and nurturing the spiritual growth of youth (7th-12th
grade) within the church community. This role involves planning, developing, and implementing
programs that foster faith, leadership, and community engagement while creating a safe,
welcoming, and inclusive environment for all youth.

our congregation by engaging families and youth in meaningful worship and activities. We strive
to build a supportive environment for our younger generations to explore their faith and develop
a strong sense of community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development and Leadership:
o Plan, organize, and lead youth group meetings, Bible studies, and special events.
o Develop and implement a balanced youth ministry program that includes worship,
discipleship, fellowship, service, and outreach.
o Stay informed about trends in youth culture and ministry to ensure programs
remain relevant and impactful.
2. Mentorship and Spiritual Guidance:
o Build meaningful relationships with youth, providing mentorship, encouragement,
and spiritual guidance.
o Be available to counsel youth and their families on spiritual and personal matters.
o Encourage youth to actively participate in the life of the church, including
worship services and volunteer opportunities.
3. Community Engagement:
o Foster a sense of community among youth by organizing retreats, mission trips,
and service projects.
o Collaborate with parents, church staff, and other ministries to ensure alignment
with the church’s mission and vision.
o Act as a liaison between the church and local schools or community organizations
to expand outreach opportunities.
4. Administrative Duties:
o Manage the youth ministry budget and resources effectively.
o Maintain clear communication with parents, youth, and church leadership through
church bulletin, social media, and other platforms.
o Ensure all activities comply with church policies, including safety and child
protection guidelines.
Qualifications:
o A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to living out Christian
values.
o Experience working with youth in a ministry or similar setting.
o Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to inspire and connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.
o Familiarity with technology and social media as tools for ministry is a plus.
o In accordance with our church’s Child Protection Policy, candidates selected for further
consideration will be required to complete a background check, provided by the church at
no cost.
Job Duties:
o This position requires flexibility, including evening and weekend availability for youth
events, retreats, and church services.
o The youth minister will work closely with church leadership and report to the Senior
Pastor or designated supervisor.
o Hold regular meetings with the youth committee (at least quarterly) to discuss plans and
initiatives.
o Teach youth during Sunday school and Wednesday night services (year-round), and
AWANA program. Must have a responsible substitute in the event you are absent.
o Select and organize literature for Wednesday night classes to enhance learning.
o Plan, direct, and schedule youth activities regularly, preferably monthly and at least
quarterly.
o Assist with Vacation Bible School (VBS)
o Manage the annual budget request for youth programs, maintaining detailed records of all
finances related to youth trips and activities.
o Communicate with parents, youth, and church members about upcoming events and
activities for the youth group
o Provide an update of all aspects of the youth ministry program to the church body at
monthly business meetings.
