Role Mission
The Discipleship–Evangelism Pastor is responsible for leading and executing Bent Tree Church’s Discipleship and Evangelism strategy. This role ensures that every individual—from first-time guest to committed member—is equipped, encouraged, and empowered to grow into a spiritually mature disciple of Jesus. The pastor will oversee the adult D3 Group system and the student D3 Group team, while developing and championing the Bent Tree Discipleship Pathway by recruiting and training leaders who are rooted in our mission.

Mobilize and equip teams to engage people at every stage of their faith journey—guiding them from guest to disciple-maker. Create and sustain a culture of relational discipleship, gospel-centered community, and volunteer ownership through intentional systems of assimilation, leadership development, and ongoing spiritual growth.

Qualifications
- Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and an active, growing relationship with Him.
- Commitment to Bent Tree Church’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Affirms and practices Reformed Baptist doctrine consistent with Bent Tree’s doctrinal beliefs.
- Humble, Hungry, Smart – Eager to serve, open to growth, and relationally wise.
- Gifted in preaching, teaching, leadership, and relational discipleship.
- Experience leading assimilation, engagement, and/or discipleship ministries.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- High emotional intelligence – Able to engage and lead a diverse congregation.
Time Commitment
- Weekly Time Commitment: 40 hrs
- Monthly Time Commitment: 3-5 hrs of additional church-wide involvement
- Quarterly Time Commitment: 5-8 hrs of leadership development
Primary Responsibilities
Discipleship & Leadership Development
- Lead and expand D3 Groups for adults by training and multiplying group leaders.
- Provide oversight and consistency across adult, student, and kids discipleship.
- Develop a leadership pipeline to identify and equip future small group and ministry leaders.
- Ensure new members are effectively integrated into the discipleship pathway.
- Preach and teach on a regular basis as part of the Preaching Team.
Engagement & Assimilation
- Lead guest follow-up, volunteer teams, and the membership process to improve retention.
- Champion and improve the Bent Tree Discipleship Pipeline (Share → Connect → Serve → Disciple).
- Collaborate with existing staff and volunteer leaders to strengthen first impressions, outreach, and assimilation ministries.
- Monitor church engagement metrics to refine connection points and volunteer systems.
- Support communication and strategy for church-wide vision initiatives.
Requirements for Leadership
- A clear calling to discipleship–evangelism and engagement ministry.
- Completion of a background check and abuse awareness training.
- Spiritually mature, relationally wise, and biblically grounded.
- Skilled in public speaking, leadership, team-building, and decision-making.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a leadership structure.
