Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Family Pastor is responsible for visionary leadership and direction of integrated and thriving children’s and senior adult ministries for Bethany Baptist Church. This pastor is responsible for the planning, development, and leadership of this ministry in partnership with appropriate church councils, committees, and teams as well as senior adult visitation ministry.  

Responsibilities:

General Pastoral Duties:

·         Work cohesively with the ministerial staff to lead the church in growing as disciples of Christ.

·         Provide pastoral care to the families of Bethany Baptist Church, with a focus on children and senior adults.

·         Actively participate and contribute to staff meetings, church-wide initiatives and scheduling.

·         Assist in pulpit ministry, as needed, and assist with other ministerial needs as directed by the Lead Pastor.

Children’s Ministry:

·         Plan and implement curriculum for Sunday school, Wednesday night discipleship, music programs, and children’s church.

·         Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and ensure compliance with all child protection policies.

·         Coordinate and manage all volunteer schedules.

·         Manage and adhere to children’s ministry budget.

·         Planning and coordination of special events.

·         Effectively communicate with the church and community regarding events happening in the children’s ministry.

·         Provide oversight and direction to the Children’s Ministry Committee

Senior Adult Ministry:

·         Provide oversight and direction to the Senior Adult Team to plan and attend activities and fellowships to occur on a regular basis and organize worship opportunities.

·         Manage and adhere to budget for Senior Adult Ministry

·         Coordinate, lead, and participate in a comprehensive visitation ministry, including home bound, widows, hospitalized, and other settings as appropriate.

·         Support ongoing ministries, such as Bethany Gold. Organize and deploy a community outreach ministry to reach the unchurched in the community.

Qualifications

Required:

·         A clear calling to the Gospel ministry.

·         Must have a mature and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

·         Meet all qualifications found in I Timothy 3:1-7

·         Minimum of a High School Diploma

·         Strong leadership and organization skills.

·         Ability to communicate effectively with various age groups.

Preferred:

·         Previous experience in children’s ministry and/or senior adult ministry.

·         Experience in planning, developing, and implementing Biblical educational programs and/or familiarity with curriculum planning and event coordination.

·         Education in Christian Ministry
