Position Summary:  This is a part-time, salaried exempt position that reports directly to the Pastor under leadership of the Deacon Board. This position exists primarily to ensure that the youth of Bethel Baptist Church receive age-appropriate training in the Word of God while being ministered to, loved, and given opportunities for involvement in service and outreach. Ultimately the goal of youth ministry is to bring young people into a knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. This position also provides for important service and outreach opportunities for ministry volunteers.

Primary Expectations:

1. Train the youth under the authority of God’s Word and direction of the Holy Spirit.

2. Recruit, train, and motivate volunteers to initiate and implement youth ministry programs and classes as needed. (This will require regular meetings with your volunteer team.)

3. Develop or review and select curriculum materials and educational tools annually for use in training the youth that align with the mission and vision of the church.

4. Work with the youth ministry volunteers and leaders in planning programs and activities.

5. Initiate regular communication with the church regarding the youth ministry.

6. Ensure regular communication with youth and their families through visits, phone calls, cards, etc.

7. Develop and implement policies for the safety and security of youth.

8. Attend weekly staff meetings.

9. Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies per the budget as needed for ministries.

10. Commit to regular quality time in Bible study and prayer.

11. Be an active church member of Bethel Baptist Church.

12. Abide by the code of conduct of Bethel Baptist Church.

13. Work with the Sunday School director to coordinate youth Sunday School classes. Lead a weekly youth gathering and plan regular youth events.

14. Perform other tasks as assigned when such tasks would enrich and enhance the mission of the church.

15. The expected time commitment for this position is an average of 12 hours per week. This includes planning, implementation, connections outside of church, and other activities listed that are youth ministry specific.

Time Off Benefits:

  • This position allows two weeks off per year for personal use (e.g., vacation) with pay upon approval by the Pastor.
  • This position allows two additional Sundays off with pay for ministry activities (e.g., mission trips, parachurch opportunities, camp counseling, etc.) with the approval of the Pastor.
