SENIOR PASTOR
Small Church in the heart of the Metroplex, Big Springs Baptist in the Garland / Richardson / Plano area just passed our 150-year anniversary and are seeking a Pastor to lead us into the next 150 years. Principle Function:
The Pastor is responsible to the congregation for the spiritual and administrative leadership of the church.
Working Relationships:
1. Works with the Deacon Fellowship in providing spiritual and administrative leadership for the church.
2. Supervises the Minister of Music and Secretary and through them all other employees.
3. Gives leadership to the work of the Personnel Committee and makes recommendations pertaining to church employees to the committee for appropriate action.
4. The Pastor will report to and consult with the Personnel Committee.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serve as the preacher/teacher of the gospel to the congregation
2. Provide the pastoral care of the congregation in cooperation with the ministerial staff and deacons.
3. Serve as an evangelist and lead the congregation in seeking the salvation of the lost and nurturing of the saved.
4. Lead the worship of the congregation at scheduled times and be responsible for all worship services, including the observance of the church ordinances (i.e., Lord’s Supper, Baptisms, etc.) revivals, vacation Bible schools and special services.
5. Serve as the chief administrator of the congregation, give leadership for the total church program, and develop goals for the ministry of the church.
6. Make himself available for individual counseling and guidance for the church and serve as a resource/referral person to those with special needs.
7. Recommend salary adjustments to the Personnel Committee and coordinate with the Personnel Committee concerning staff administration.
8. Supervise all key staff members and provide directions and evaluation when needed.
9. Act as a moderator of all church business meetings. In his absence, the chairman of the deacons will serve in his place.
10. Serve as chairman of the church council and ex-officio member of all committees of the church and as staff advisor for standing committees.
11. Provide coverage of the pulpit for times he is unavailable due to vacation, at seminars, etc.
General Responsibilities
1. Work with the church council and appropriate church leaders to set goals, determine priorities, establish programs and coordinate a calendar which will lead the church to accomplish its mission.
2. Give leadership to the educational ministry of the church including Bible study, training and mission education and action.
3. Supervise the educational staff members in pursuit of effective and efficient performance of their duties. This includes direct supervision of other educational staff who might be called.
4. Give direction and supervision of the church’s outreach-evangelism program.
5. Plan and promote fellowships, retreats, seminars and conferences that will enhance the spiritual growth of the church.
6. Assist the Stewardship Committee in the development of the annual budget.
7. Administer in cooperation with the Stewardship Committee all church funds in conformity with the adopted budgets and policies.
8. Coordinate the funding of special projects in cooperation with the appropriate church leaders and staff.
9. Coordinate the church calendar and insure the readiness of church facilities and equipment in accordance with the calendar.
10. Keep abreast of the latest trends, methods and materials related to religious education and administration.
11. Serve as staff advisor for standing committees as assigned by the Nominating Committee.
12. Serve in the pastoral ministry area by preaching, visiting hospitals, counseling, performing weddings, conducting funerals and doing prospect visitation.
13. Interact with individuals making requests for benevolent help.
14. Interact with contractors and vendors as necessary for the repair, improvement, or maintenance of the facilities and grounds.
