LEADERSHIP POSITION DESCRIPTION
 

Position Title:  Director of Children’s Ministry                      

Reports To: Executive Pastor

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION
Direct a comprehensive and active Children’s Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church understanding that the children’s ministry exists to come alongside parents to help them in their God-given responsibility of discipling their children.

 

SPECIFIC LIST OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement a strategic plan of ministry to children. The plan should include purpose statements, time sensitive goals, action steps, and review/evaluation of the process.

Develop and implement a strategy of ministry that works to come alongside the parents of children, grades 1-5, to help them disciple their children.

Provide an hour of Bible Study on Sunday mornings for children, grades 1-5. This would include planning, implementing variables such as space allocation, curriculum considerations, supply acquisition, promotion, and coordination with the other ministries of the church.

Develop and implement a strategy of training children to worship corporately. Currently this includes a separate worship option for children and tools to help parents train their children as they participate in corporate worship with the church. For the separate worship option for children, the Director of Children’s Ministry is responsible for planning, staffing, and implementing this worship time for children.

Provide a children’s program ministry on Wednesday evenings that might include missions, discipleship, evangelism training, and/or ministry opportunities. This would include planning, implementing variables such as space allocation, curriculum considerations, supply acquisition, promotion, and coordination with the other ministries of the church.

Direct, lead, plan, and implement a Vacation Bible School during the summer. This would include planning, implementing variables such as space allocation, curriculum considerations, supply acquisition, promotion, and coordination with the other ministries of the church.

 

Plan, coordinate, and implement annual trips such as mission projects, summer camps, summer day trips, weekend retreats, and other events as part of the strategy of the children’s ministry.

Enlist, train, screen, equip, and lead adult church members to staff the above-mentioned program ministries.

Build relationships with children and families by spending time with them inside and outside the church to best minister to them.

Counsel with children and families on spiritual matters.

Provide resources to parents to assist them in discipling their children.

Perform other duties as assigned by the senior pastor.

 

OTHER GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Communicate with the church through communication tools like weekly bulletin articles, email, calendar of events, social media, etc.

Give leadership and direction to the program coordination of the church through the participation of administrative and ministerial staff meetings.

Follow and adhere to the policies and procedures of Calvary Baptist Church

Perform duties as needed and assigned by the senior pastor related the to the pastoral care of the congregation.

Prepare and annual budget for church budget line items directly managed by this position. Manage those budget line items throughout the church year.

Perform other duties as assigned by the senior pastor.

Basic personal responsibilities:

a.      Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, and meditation.

b.      Maintain proper priorities in your home and be the spiritual leader to your wife and children, if married.

c.       Develop personal discipleship opportunities within and outside the church.

d.      Financially support the works of ministries of Calvary by faithfully giving at least 10% of your gross income. Maintain wise stewardship measures over the remaining 90%.
