Associate Pastor of Youth and Discipleship Full Time

Principal Function:

The Associate Pastor is a member of the senior leadership team of Central Baptist Church.  As such, he supports the vision and mission of CBC to Explore, Engage, Equip and Empower people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He will lead the Church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive program of Christian Education and training to include: Bible teaching and spiritual development programs based on life-cycles of youth and adults.

Qualifications for the Position:

1.        Must have experienced salvation and a call to God’s Ministry.

2.        Should be a graduate of an accredited college (preferably a Southern Baptist School).

3.        Completion of or progress toward a Masters’ Degree in a related field: MDiv, MTS, MACE, etc. is preferred or graduation from a seminary with emphasis on Youth Ministry is desired.

4.        Must possess patience and love and have the knowledge and skills to relate to the church body.

5.        Must demonstrate familiarity with and experience in leading a variety of programs.

6.        Must possess the ability to plan, organize, train, and supervise program and event leaders.

7.        Demonstrates strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

8.        Training or experience in spiritual, emotional, physical, and Biblical development of the Church, with an emphasis on Youth.

9.        Ability to provide spiritual guidance to those in need of Pastoral help.

10.    It is preferred that the candidate be ordained or be receptive to ordination.

Duties and Responsibilities

Associate Pastor

1.        Assists the Senior Pastor in all areas of Pastoral Ministry, as requested by the Senior Pastor: Pulpit supply, Funerals, Weddings, age group ministry, and hospital ministry, with an emphasis on Youth.

2.        Works in concert with the Senior Pastor relative to spiritual and administrative matters and with elected committees of the Church.

3.        Assists in the development of the church budget and operates within the confines of the approved budget.

4.        Assists with all general church publicity, print distribution, and media production.

5.        Coordinates and provides administrative leadership to assigned committees and program and ministry organizations.

6.        Serves as a member of the Church Council.

7.        Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Youth Minister

1.       Plans, promotes and supervises a balanced youth ministry program through Connect, Explore, and Engage Groups, discipleship training, fellowships, retreats, camps, banquets, music, missions, etc.

2.       Enlists and trains leadership for the Youth Ministry.

3.       Plans, conducts, and evaluates a ministry of visitation by the youth.

4.       Develops leadership ability of all youth.

5.       Serves as staff liaison on all committees relating to the youth, including Church Council and the Nominating Committee.

6.       Advises the Senior Pastor and staff concerning the needs of the youth.

Discipleship

1.     Oversees the organization and implementation of the small group programs of the church including Explore, Engage, and Enrich programs.

2.     Serves as educational resource person and advisor to the leaders of assigned program, service, and committee organizations.

3.     Develops special education and training projects such as retreats, study sessions, and seminars for various age groups.

4.     Plans and executes a program equipping and training for small group leaders and teachers.

5.     Establishes and coordinates all Church outreach, evangelism, and visitation programs.

6.     Serves as advisor for the educational facets of special and pastoral ministry areas such as homebound and nursing home Bible teaching programs.

7.     Is available to the Senior Pastor to assist in the accomplishment of his ministries; perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Appointment:

A.     Recommended by Personnel Committee and/or ad hoc committee, as well as by Senior Pastor

B.     Approved by Central Baptist Church congregation

C.    Reports to the Senior Pastor
