Central Baptist Church Youth and College Pastor Job Posting

Central Baptist Church of Johnson City, Tennessee, is seeking a full-time Youth and College Pastor (YCP) to shepherd the students of our church. The pastor must be a devoted Christian who walks in Christian love and engages in actions that reflect honorably on Christ and His Church. The YCP must worship and study God’s Word regularly, observe our ordinances, agree with the vision of Central Baptist Church and give generously and cheerfully of their personal talents and possessions in obedience to the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19-20). The YCP is responsible for planning, leading, promoting, and developing a Christ-centered, safe, and effective ministry for Middle School (6th-8th Grade), High School (9th – 12th Grade), and College students. The YCP will oversee staff and volunteers who lead and care for students in their particular areas. The YCP will partner with the Central Baptist Church staff and parents to create a biblical foundation that will help disciple and encourage students as they grow in their faith. Central Baptist Church is 151 years old and embodies various demographics, cultures, women in ministry, both traditional and contemporary worship styles, and participates in both local and global missions. Central Baptist Church cooperates predominately with the Southern Baptist Convention, but also with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.

Further job duties include:

• Share the gospel with the lost.
• Disciple and mentor students in the development of their faith and lead them to become committed followers of Christ.
• Promote and facilitate intergenerational activities to involve the Youth and College Students with the entire church body.
• Partner with CBC pastors and other adult / parent leadership groups to coordinate ministry to parents and families.
• Participate with college campus ministries.
• Identify, recruit, build relationships with, and develop volunteer leaders to effectively lead Youth and College programs and events.
• Guide in the selection of Biblically-based education materials, equipment, and supplies for Youth and College Ministries.
• Stay up-to-date on teaching methods / materials and oversee their implementation.
• Utilize technology and social media platforms to promote ministry activities and connect to students in a Godly manner.
• Consult with other staff and lay leadership concerning activities in their areas when youth are involved.

Requirements and Preferences:

• Bachelors or higher-level degree from an accredited college / university required.
• Seminary degree or pursuant of a seminary degree preferred.
• Previous experience in youth and college ministry preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
