Full Time Job Description
Basic Function:
The Minister of Youth, Children and Families serves to equip and partner with parents as the primary disciple-makers of their children, following the principles of Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and Ephesian 6:1-4. This role involves providing leadership, guidance, and resources to support families in nurturing spiritual growth. Additionally, the Minister of Youth, Children and Families oversees and coordinates all ministries and programs for children and youth from birth through high school.
Qualifications:
Personal Faith: A born-again believer in Jesus Christ with a strong, growing relationship with the Lord
Calling: A clear calling to minister to youth, children and their families
Doctrinal Alignment: Full adherence to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
Education: A seminary degree is preferred, or in active pursuit of one
References: A minimum of three letters of reference, with permission to contact all references
Physical: Summer camps, mission trips, setting up for events
Prior experience preferred
Essential Responsibilities:
Ministry Leadership:
Develop and implement a comprehensive discipleship ministry that integrates home and church, promoting spiritual growth and biblical understanding
Lead and engage youth on Sunday and Wednesday evenings with relevant Bible teaching and instruction
Regularly meet with the Nursery Committee, Youth Committee, and Children’s Committee to plan, implement, and evaluate ministry activities
Lead efforts to involve youth and families in mission trips, camps, and local community service projects
Support youth and children by attending extracurricular activities within their schools and communities, fostering relationships and encouragement when possible
Provide regular ministry updates to the church body through participation in staff meetings, business meetings and deacon meetings
Perform visitation to connect with youth, children and their families
Work harmoniously with church staff and committees to support and enhance the overall church program
Adhere to and maintain current child protection policies
Reside in Bourbon County within six months of hire
Collaborate with the Nursery Director, Sunday School Director, VBS Director and AWANA Commander to ensure alignment and consistency in biblical teaching and discipleship
Outreach Ministry:
Vision and leadership: Develop and lead a comprehensive outreach ministry focused on promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ aimed at youth, children and families
Equipping and Training: Equip church members for active outreach by providing training and resources to effectively share their faith and serve others
Assist the Senior Pastor as needed
Accountability
The Minister of Youth, Children and Families is accountable to the Senior Pastor
