Central Baptist Senior Pastor Job Description

The Senior Pastor of Central Baptist is responsible for providing spiritual leadership, biblical teaching, and pastoral care in accordance with the church’s Constitution and By-laws.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Senior Pastor is responsible for leading members and guests toward a deeper relationship with God. This role requires a strong commitment to the Christian faith, effective preaching, a teachable spirit, and a sincere passion for supporting the congregation’s spiritual growth.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7.

Alignment with Baptist Faith and Message
The Senior Pastor will affirm, adhere to, and align with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. He will faithfully uphold the Baptist distinctives of believer’s baptism, the priesthood of all believers, and the autonomy of the local church while proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.

CBC Senior Pastor Key Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership
Prepare and deliver Christ-centered, Bible-based sermons each week, including Sunday services and one Wednesday service.
Collaborate with ministerial staff and the music leader to coordinate cohesive, spiritually meaningful weekly worship services.
Prepare Bible studies and teachings that are biblically sound, relevant, and supportive of the congregation’s spiritual development.
Develop, communicate, and support the church’s mission and vision by aligning ministry activities with the church’s goals for spiritual and congregational growth.
The Senior Pastor should model a Christlike character, demonstrate servant leadership, and foster a culture rooted in biblical truth, grace, and unity. He will faithfully shepherd the congregation and represent Central Baptist Church with integrity and compassion.

Pastoral Care
Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to the congregation and the surrounding community.
Actively participate in visitation ministry for shut-in members, individuals in hospitals or nursing homes, members in private residences, and bereaved families. Offer prayer, encouragement, and spiritual care during these visits.
Follow up with visitors, new members, and newly baptized members through calls or visits to provide encouragement and spiritual guidance.
Coordinate Communion services in partnership with the church deacons.
Attend and support special church events, including Vacation Bible School, Fall Festival, and revivals.
Administer pastoral services, including baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
Promote a strong sense of community within the congregation and encourage outreach efforts within the broader community.
Foster a welcoming and inclusive church environment for all attendees.
Job Qualifications
Minimum of five years of pastoral ministry experience in a preaching role.
Must be an ordained minister.
