Salary Range: $20,000-$25,000 annually
Benefits: None due to part-time nature of the position
GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To build and nurture young disciples for Christ by implementing a comprehensive approach to youth ministry (in the areas of worship, teaching, discipleship, outreach, and mentoring, while serving as a leader and role model).
Anticipated Time Commitments:
- Weekly hours expected 10-16 hours.
- Two Sunday services with the youth per month on 2nd & 4th Sundays
- Each service will be held in the Multi-Purpose Building
- Four mid-week sessions per month and performing job responsibilities (requiring approximately 10 hours per week).
Organizational Relationship and Supervision:
- Youth Minister will report to the Pastor.
CTOF Vision for Position
CTOF is seeking a Youth Minister who is a minister of the Gospel, loves God, and has a mature growing relationship with the Lord. The candidate must embrace CTOF’s central ministry focus of Connecting Others to God’s Amazing Grace. This vision must be affirmed and modeled so the youth are:
- Encouraged to develop personal faith and relationship with Jesus
- Equipped to boldly share the Good News of the Gospel with their peers and others
- In a position to build a foundation on God’s Word that will undergird the next stages of their lives with Godly wisdom for everyday issues they will face.
- The position of Youth Minister will direct, model, and oversee the Youth Ministry to that end.
Ministry Age Group Focus:
- Youth/Teens, 6th – 12th grades (or ages13-18).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Qualifications and/or Abilities Desired:
- Must be confessing a personal born-again relationship with Jesus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Completed or pursuing seminary training preferred
- Has relative experience working with in the area of youth ministry
- Good role model (displays Christian actions, morals and values)
- Avoids all improprieties and/or appearance of any misconduct
- Background check required (including criminal record & credit history)
- Provide 2-3 character references upon request
- Provide work history via Resume upon request.
General Requirements
- Meet monthly with Pastor for ministry update and planning
- Must establish and foster exemplary relationships with church staff, volunteers, and members
- Must be able to work with and develop a rapport with parents
- Model CTOF vision for ministering and discipleship through growing in faith, strengthening relationships with others, and serving the community
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Serve as Director of Youth Ministry
- Plan, develop, and implement all aspects of a balanced youth ministry in the areas of worship, teaching, discipleship, outreach, and mentoring, that include opportunities for youth to fellowship with each other, learn Biblical truths and apply them to their lives
- Plan and lead two Sunday worship services per month
- Plan and facilitate a weekday-evening interactive Christian educational study session
- Meet monthly with youth ministry leaders to pray and to discuss upcoming events, challenges, solutions, and praises
- Recruit youth workers as needed. Provide training for youth workers as needed. Plan one major training/inspirational workshop a year
- Provide counseling and spiritual direction to teens on an individual basis
- Participate in outreach ministry to teens who have visited the church: visits, letters, etc.
- Plan at least one yearly youth retreat for the purpose of spiritual edification
- Develop and submit the youth ministry budget and track expenditures throughout the year
- Assist admin staff in compiling a youth directory to be distributed to teens and youth workers.
