The Pastor shall provide spiritual and pastoral leadership to the membership of Corinth Baptist Church. The Pastor is to be committed to carrying out the mission of the church, a person who leads by example to evangelize the lost, and edify the saved (Ephesians 4:11-13). The Pastor should have a clear call of God (Acts 20:28, 1 Timothy 3:1-7) and His giftedness on their life for this particular ministry at Corinth Baptist Church.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Demonstrates a born again relationship with Jesus Christ, is theologically sound in belief, and is committed to personal spiritual growth.
- To regularly preach and teach the Word of God, administering the ordinances, officiate in times of weddings, funerals, special services, and be available for spiritual guidance/counseling to church members as needed.
- Demonstrates a commitment to a God-centered, biblical point of worship.
- Possesses a servant heart and a positive enthusiastic attitude.
- Ability to teach, train, and work with others; while being flexible, teachable, and maintaining a cooperative spirit.
- Possesses communication and public relations skills, a “people person”.
- Reflects a strong passion for connecting people to Christ and His church.
- Personal integrity and self-motivation in the fulfillment of ministry.
- Demonstrates a passion to lead people in worship.
- Adheres to the theological and doctrinal principles of the church being sensitive to the needs of the congregation.
Education:
- Minimum: Four year degree in Religious Studies with a Christian focus (or similar field of study) from an accredited university.
Experience:
- Minimum: 5 years serving as a full time Pastor (includes positions such as Associate Pastor, Youth Pastor, etc.), 5 Years serving as a full time Senior Pastor preferred.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Shall spend significant time in prayer and Bible study in order to adequately feed and nurture the congregation.
- Shall provide leadership and vision for the church.
- Shall direct plans for ministry and church growth, develop and fine-tune the church structure. (2 Timothy 4:5, Matthew 28:19-20)
- Shall supervise and evaluate the church staff to achieve maximum ministry potential. At a minimum these evaluations shall be performed annually, be documented in writing, and provided to the Personnel Committee on a date established by the Personnel Committee each year.
- Assist in developing deacons in their biblical responsibilities. Additionally, he will endeavor to assist members personal growth in service/ministry by helping them discover, develop, and deploy the spiritual gifts (Ephesians 4:12, 2 Timothy 2:2)
- Shall demonstrate and apply skills/traits of leadership, organization, and administration; be task-oriented, independently motivated, flexible, and adaptable. Assist both ministerial and administrative staff in the development and deployment of these skills.
General Responsibilities:
- Leads in the planning, conducting, and evaluation of congregational worship services.
- Makes visits to hospitals, convalescent facilities, home bound, or in homes as related to the pastoral ministry (works with other staff members, deacons, and church leaders in carrying out this ministry). (1 Peter 5:1-3]
- Serves as staff liaison, resource person and advisor to appropriate committees of the church.
- Provides ministry data and reports as requested.
- Submits budget requests appropriate for ministerial area.
- Attends/participates in the general life of the church, its activities and functions.
- Assists in communications and publications to the church and community.
- Be available to the ministerial staff for assistance.
Supervisor: The Pastor, a servant of God, serves under the supervision of the church membership.
