Cornerstone Baptist Church in Panama City Beach, Florida is seeking a lead pastor for a full-time Pastor Position
Compensation Range: $55,000 to $75,000
Reports to: Board of Deacons
Summary of Position:
This position is to serve as the Overseer or Under-Shepherd for our congregation of Christian Believers. As such, the expectations for this position are to plan, oversee and conduct weekly services; be available to minister during times of emergent needs of the congregation; and have the supervisory responsibility for paid administrative and support staff. Additionally, Cornerstone Baptist Church is member of the Northwest Florida Baptist Association, Florida Southern Baptist Convention and the Pastor is encouraged to work together with the Mission Director to support association goals and ministries
About our Church:
Cornerstone Baptist Church is located on the east end of Panama City Beach, Fl, in the middle of an established subdivision with over 200 homes. We are a mission minded Southern Baptist Church committed to making a difference in the community where God has placed us. We currently have a traditional style service but are open to incorporate some more contemporary worship styles. On Sundays we have Sunday School, Morning Worship, and an Evening Service. We also have a Wednesday Evening Prayer and Devotional Service each week. A parsonage is not available.
Position Overview (from church by-laws)
The Pastor (as overseer or under-shepherd) is responsible for leading the Church to function as a New Testament Church. As the spiritual leader of the Church, he shall lead the congregation and Church organizations to perform their tasks. He works in conjunction with the Board of Deacons and Church Staff to:
(1) Lead the Church to engage in worship, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry;
(2) Proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers;
(3) Care for the Church’s members and other persons in the community.
(4) Serve as an ex officio member of all Church Committees and Ministries and may appoint another member of the Church leadership to share his committee or Ministry responsibilities.
As the spiritual leader, primary qualifications of the Pastor of this Church are as follows:
- The Pastor shall be expected to be a man of the highest spiritual and moral character (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
- A man fully controlled by the Holy Spirit as evidenced by the Fruit of the Spirit in his life (Galatians 5:22-23).
- His qualifications shall be those as given in the Holy Scriptures, which relate to the leadership of Christ’s Church and to the preaching of the Gospel (1 Timothy 4:6-16, 2 Timothy 4:1-5, 1 Peter 5:1-6, Ephesians 4:11-13, and John 21:16-17).
- Shall have a background as a Pastor/Associate Pastor of a church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
- Though a theological degree is not necessary, he shall have appropriate theological training from a regionally accredited Southern Baptist institution of higher education.
As the Pastor, called by God and this Church, the primary duties and responsibilities of the Pastor would include, but not limited to the following:
- Being dedicated to spending regular and consistent time in prayer; while also leading our church to be a praying congregation (Acts 6:4).
- Preaching and teaching the Gospel to the lost for their salvation and personal evangelism (1 Corinthians 1:17, 2 Timothy 4:5).
- Preaching and teaching of the Word of God to the saved for their edification as well as reproof and exhortation (1 Peter 5:2, 2 Timothy 4:2-4, 1 Timothy 5:12-14).
- Spend appropriate time in study of the Scriptures and sermon preparation.
- Plan for and provide leadership in the observance of the Church Ordinances.
- Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies, as he is able and requested.
- Lead the staff and Church in a caring ministry for persons in the Church and the community.
- Plan, coordinate and/or conduct hospital visitation, as necessary.
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate congregational worship services by leading or delegating the leadership of these services.
- Provide administrative leadership for the total Church program.
- Perform counseling as required for weddings, those in domestic trouble, those with spiritual problems, and others as needs arise.
- Lead the church in cooperating with the ministries and mission efforts of the local Baptist association, the Florida Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention, and keep the church informed of important information related to these entities.
