Country Acres Baptist Church (CABC) is a Christ-centered, Southern Baptist church located in Wichita, KS. CABC is a congregation with average in-person weekly worship service attendance in excess of 400. Following the departure of our Senior Pastor after thirty faithful years of service, CABC is seeking a Senior Pastor to shepherd our church.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Meets the Biblical qualifications for an elder (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1; 1 Peter 5).
- Masters degree from seminary
- Has a Baptist, conservative, evangelical theological perspective.
- Agrees with the doctrinal statement of CABC.
- Demonstrates skill in preparing and preaching expository messages.
- At least five years of Senior Pastor experience, preferred.
- A personal devotion to scripture and prayer.
- A personal commitment to leadership through discipleship and advancing the Great Commission.
Organizational Relationship: The Senior Pastor is accountable to the church body through the elders. The Senior Pastor leads the pastoral staff and elders but remains mutually accountable to them as colleagues and fellow servants of Christ.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Senior Pastor is to equip the church for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12). This task is carried out in cooperation with the pastoral staff team and the elders. This responsibility will be carried out in the following ways:
Equipping by Preaching and Teaching
- The Senior Pastor will be the primary preacher/teacher for the worship services of the church. He will oversee the filling of the pulpit in his absence. He will also oversee the invitation of guest preachers/teachers.
- The Senior Pastor will spend adequate time in study and preparation for his teaching and preaching responsibilities. He is encouraged to guard this time faithfully.
- The Senior Pastor will work with the pastoral staff and elders to see that there is doctrinal and organizational alignment of all teaching ministries.
- The Senior Pastor will coordinate in conjunction with the staff the worship services of the church including the administration of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
- The Senior Pastor will work with the worship leaders to plan and conduct worship services.
- The Senior Pastor will seek to model in his own life the biblical principles he teaches in the church.
Equipping by Leadership
- Lead the church staff, elders, and congregation in the development, communication, and implementation of God’s vision for the church.
- Conduct regular meetings of the pastoral staff for the purpose of reviewing, evaluating, and strengthening the ministries of the church.
- Schedule and conduct regular meetings with the elders (at least monthly) for the spiritual guidance of the church.
- Preside over the quarterly congregational business meetings of the church and all other special congregational meetings in which official business is conducted.
- Leads the strategic planning process and oversees its implementation with the elders and pastoral staff.
- Oversees the process of evaluating and aligning all church ministries and programs into the broader vision of the church.
- Directs the congregation in recognizing and training future elders, deacons, and other church leadership.
- Advises and assists church committees, councils, and ministries in the implementation of the church’s vision and mission.
- Consistently models the pursuit of the Great Commission in the church body by actively engaging in personal discipling relationships.
- Displays passion for outreach, missions, and community service.
● Equipping by Pastoral Care
- Pastoral counseling on a limited basis.
- Officiates weddings and funerals as requested, when deemed appropriate. ○ Conducts hospital visitation and other ministry visits as needed along with the other members of the pastoral team.
- Oversees matters of church discipline when necessary.
- Committed to prayer for our congregation.
● Equipping by Personal Growth and Renewal
- Commits meaningful time to reading, research, and renewal for personal and organizational health.
- Seeks to attend conferences, workshops, and other events which will contribute to his personal and ministry development.
- Spends time each week praying for the leadership, direction, and people of Country Acres Baptist Church.
