Youth Minister Part Time

Dogwood Church in Athens, TX is currently seeking a part-time youth minister who is passionate about evangelism to and discipleship of youth. The time requirements are 10-12 hours a week. Salary is $12,000 a year. An additional stipend is available for extra hours worked during the summer months. See the job description below. Job Description
Personal Characteristics and Requirements:

·        Has an active faith in Jesus and is an active member in good standing in their local church.

·        Actively engaged in regular personal Bible study and prayer and show a desire to grow in relation to Jesus Christ by attitude, action, and behavior

·        Known by others as a man of character in line with the character traits described in 1 Timothy 3:1-13

·        In agreement with Dogwood Church’s Statement of Beliefs.

Education and Experience

·        Either a bachelor’s degree in a related ministry field or 4 years’ experience in ministry or in a field working with youth aged students

·        Has experience with leading and or serving in youth ministry

Required Skills
·        Proficient in teaching Scripture with a knowledge of essential doctrines of the Gospel

·        Able to recruit, train, and lead a team of volunteers with a spirit of collaboration

·        Good communication skills working with all ages of people

·        Able to work well with youth and serve as a role model in the faith and invest in student’s lives

Youth Ministry Duties
·        Provide leadership, vision, and oversight to our youth ministry (6th-12th grades)

·        Prepare and teach youth lessons for Sunday School and Wednesday night

·        Provide counsel and discipleship to students and parents

·        Develop a ministry that prioritizes discipleship

·        Develop and implement evangelism strategies and trainings to reach other youth for Christ

·        Plan and coordinate multiple gatherings that include, but not limited to: Youth Camp, Disciple Now, and other youth gatherings throughout the year to promote discipleship

·        Provide tools and resources for parents that can help them as they raise their students in the faith

Working relationships

·        Reports directly to the senior pastor and is under the authority of the elder board

·        Willingness to work as a team member as part of the overall ministry of Dogwood Church

·        Maintain office hours appropriate to the position and necessary tasks

·        Maintains regular communication with parents/guardians regarding the youth ministry and concerning the needs of their students
