This position is responsible for the stewardship, maintenance, and improvement of all audio, visual, lighting, and media assets ensuring timely, accurate, and effective communications through all channels including but not limited to email, social media platforms, apps, websites, signage, print publications, security camera systems. This position is also accountable for all facility information technology networks and applications.
Job Responsibilities:
This position will manage all AVL functions for the church. This includes but is not limited to the following spaces: sanctuary, student worship, children’s worship, preschool worship, gym, and the Underground.
This position will manage all media asset maintenance for sound, video, lighting equipment and foyer/classroom TV’s.
This position will develop and improve timely communication strategies for the EMBC congregation, prospective members, and local community about events, sermon series, important information, etc. This includes creating a church videography and photography ministry that captures, edits, and publishes content to communicate, advertise, and chronicle church activities and ministries.
This position will oversee, service, and maintain all information technology networks, applications, hardware and software assets and systems. This position is the primary database and development manager for the EMBC Church Management System (TouchPoint), the Church Calendar and Work Order Management System (eSpace), the web development tool (Square Space), and any other technology platform (Google Analytics, Planning Center, Subsplash, etc.).
Analyze voice and data communication equipment and software needs for the organization. Identify and recommend upgrades and changes to communications equipment and software, maintaining efficient and effective operations.
Facilitate and oversee the support of the communications network, ensuring effective and helpful support is provided to end users. Demonstrate an attitude of helpfulness and service toward staff and volunteers; modeling and reinforcing the mission to glorify God by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples.
Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in technology, alerting senior staff of the effects widespread equipment, network, and other revisions, changes, and discontinuations will have on the organization’s systems and operations.
Create and execute a strategy for improved inter-office staff communication and messaging.
Assist the Security Team in managing the church video security system network.
Serve as the church’s brand manager, helping to safeguard how the church’s brand is portrayed in all communication platforms.
Be the gateway and quality control check on all church communications.
Develop and execute a thorough communication strategy with social media accounts and keep all accounts aligned with EMBC’s mission.
Partner with the staff to facilitate communication needs for all ministry areas.
Maintain accurate and updated copy, content, refined look, and graphics on the EMBC App and church website. Create a unified “voice” for online platforms.
Coordinate and schedule large-scale equipment and network installations.
Ensure communications-related projects and tasks are completed within specifications, on time, and within budget.
As required, provide training of staff and volunteers with tasks related to their areas of communication.
Remain current on effective communications and marketing trends and how they can be used to glorify God.
Perform other duties related to the overall ministry of EMBC (visitation, outreach, etc.) as assigned by your supervisor.
Other General Responsibilities:
Cooperate with the Senior Pastor, and church leadership in promoting the entire ministry plan of East Maryville Baptist Church.
Assist Nominating Team in recruiting and enlisting workers for all related ministry areas.
Utilize the services of the secretarial and facilities staff consistent with their position descriptions.
Seek to be creative in all your areas of responsibility.
Qualifications and Skills:
The Media Director is to be a born-again believer, acknowledging Jesus Christ as both Lord and
Savior, and have an ongoing personal relationship with Him.
Bachelor’s degree in media communications, public relations, advertising, marketing, or IT.
A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in digital graphic design and/or information management, communication strategies, social media outlets or marketing.
Experience in the following areas: publications, social media management, photography, and graphic design.
Video – knowledge of video technologies including cameras, interfaces, routing, NDI, recording, and directing.
Streaming – knowledge of broadcast workflow and technologies for web streaming video of services and events.
Production Equipment – knowledge of hardware and software related to media and
production: mixers, microphones, cables, amps, projectors, TVs, network switches, computers, phones/tablets/apps, media files.
Network Infrastructure – basic knowledge of network technologies and routing would be very helpful in this role.
Other Information:
This is a full-time salaried position with the expectation of a 40-hour work week.
Typical Work Schedule – (flexible based on production needs)
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (including evening programming), Thursday (final production prep)
Friday/Saturday – Normal schedule if to be off. Occasional special events (funerals, weddings, local school choir concert, meetings, etc.) throughout the week or weekends.
The Media & IT Director should be professionally trained or have an exceptional experience record.
Candidates will be required to submit to background checks including Criminal – Local, State, and Federal; Financial/Credit History; Drug Screens; and Personal References.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs of equipment as needed for setup/teardown
