The Eastern Louisiana Baptist Association is seeking its next Associational Mission Strategist (AMS). The Associational Mission Strategist is a full-time professional ministerial position with the Eastern Louisiana Baptist Association (43 Churches). The Associational Mission Strategist (AMS) shall be the leader in the development, implementation and administration of all areas of association missions and ministries. The AMS will direct all associational work and ministries, cooperate with all associational committees and report to the Eastern Louisiana Baptist Association (hereafter referred to as ELBA) at its annual and semi-annual meetings and to the association’s Executive Team at the regularly scheduled quarterly meetings. The AMS will work out of the office provided by ELBA with regular
scheduled office hours.

The following principles are important to the ELBA…

As leader of ELBA, the AMS must be an innovative, respected leader whom the churches will follow and therefore must be above reproach in personal character and conduct. The AMS should maintain a personal devotional life, a regular prayer time, and worship regularly with a church family. The AMS should never conduct himself in a manner that would dishonor God, his family, his church, or the association. Although the autonomy of the local congregation is highly revered, ELBA believes that cooperation among the churches in doing ministry not only enhances the results, but displays a spirit of unity to the community.

The following Job Description flows from these principles:
Specific Responsibilities
1. The AMS shall encourage all churches of the ELBA to cooperate in Associational, LBC and SBC missions and ministries, as well as promote fellowship and harmony within the association.
2. The AMS shall take the initiative in developing communications with all pastors and church staff members and promote a sense of family within the association. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Attending monthly pastor’s conferences
  • Visiting in area church services when possible
  • Visit on-site with church staff when possible

3. The AMS shall consult and assist ELBA churches as requested including, but not limited to the
following:

  • Training Search Committee
  • Consulting church and staff in regard to church conflict
  • Assisting churches in developing Constitution and By-laws

4. The AMS shall serve as an ex-officio member on the Executive Team and all associational committees and consult
regularly with associational officers.
5. The AMS shall stay informed with LBC and SBC programs.

  • To serve as a liaison between the association and these other Baptist bodies.
  • To interpret the work of the conventions to the association and churches.

6. The AMS shall direct the work of the office and employed personnel according to their job
description, and in conjunction with the Personnel Committee, establish office policy.
7. The AMS should join an ELBA church where his family can establish spiritual roots even though
the AMS may be attending other churches in conjunction with his job.
