Worship Leader/Minister of Music Part Time

Eastgate Baptist Church is located on the east side of the Flint Metro area in the city of Burton.  We are a smaller congregation of about 85 attending on the average Sunday morning. Our church has a long history of serving our community beyond our walls and seeing families grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Within the goal of our mission, we are seeking to grow in the ways our worship gatherings are led with music and technology. We have a few skilled musicians who can play guitar, keys, bass, as well as great vocalist. Our tech leadership is fairly proficient. However, the church is in need of direction for these various parts to lead the congregation in a growing and consistent manner.

The primary responsibility of the leader will be to plan and lead the music for the weekend Worship Gathering in a way that engages the body of believers in congregational praise. To be effective in these responsibilities, the description of this serving role includes:

1. Providing leadership and direction for the Worship Gatherings

2. Recruiting for and developing of the worship team.

3. Coordination of the worship team with the Pastor and audio/visual team as to what is needed for the worship gatherings each week (music, practices, lyrics, media).

4. Lead in timely rehearsals to prepare the worship team for the Worship Gatherings.

5. Assist the church in the planning worship elements for any special ministries outside the normative weekend Worship Gatherings.

The person we are prayerfully seeking will be one who has personally and publicly professed themselves as a follower of Christ, be doctrinally aligned & in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and as a matter of skills be proficient in their musical capacity as a leader.  These qualifications would include:

1. Musical proficiency in vocals & instrumentation (keys, piano, guitar)

2. Ability to lead worship responsibly

3. Knowledge of presentation software

4. Comfort working in a church setting

5. Ability to work with a wide variety of ages

The preference for this role would be one who has demonstrated their capacity to lead congregations in previous roles. While this is preferred, it is not required.

The expectation is that this position would be for 5-6 hours per week with the possibility of compensation to be discussed based upon experience.
