About the Administrative Pastor:

We are seeking to build our staff team with a qualified and proficient Administrative Pastor. As a pastor, he will shepherd God’s people. As an administrator, he will take the lead in day-to-day operations necessary for the execution of Edgewood’s mission and vision. This includes financial management, human resources, and organizational development. He will also be responsible for evaluating and implementing processes, systems, and policies that build and support our ministry so that our teams are aligned and supported. The Administrative Pastor will manifest hearty support for the leadership of the church in general and specifically for the Senior Pastor.

 The Administrative Pastor’s Responsibilities Include:

  • Develops, coordinates, implements, and maintains policies, systems, accountability, and procedures that expedite ministry and organizational effectiveness.
  • Leads guest services/first impressions/ushering/offering collection/parking ministry for weekend services and special events.
  • Oversees guest follow-up and assimilation/connection processes and systems.
  • Oversees Edgewood’s use of Church Management Software (CCB) ensuring best practices.
  • Oversees the collection and reporting of key church metrics to ensure Edgewood celebrates what God is doing and to help identify opportunities to encourage greater church health.
  • Responsible for Human Resources.
  • Encourages interaction and information flow between ministry areas, among staff and with the congregation.
  • Involvement with strategic planning and implementation of vision.
  • Supervises and evaluates administrative staff and custodian(s).
  • Coordinates with local law enforcement to schedule security for weekend and midweek services and activities.
  • Serves as liaison with the trustees and attends deacon meetings.
  • Works with the staff, Finance Team, and Deacons on budgeting and spending to ensure we utilize church resources in a wise way that furthers our mission.
  • Preaches when requested by the Senior Pastor.
  • Fulfills other pastoral duties such as shepherding, hospital visits, weddings, and funerals.
  • Meets regularly with the Senior Pastor to ensure a close partnership in the ministry.
  • Leads and manages special projects as assigned by the senior pastor.

Education & Experience

  • Bible school or seminary graduate, preferred
  • Ordained or willing to be ordained
  • Proven ministry track record

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to fulfill all requirements of church membership
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Must be an effective communicator and a strategic thinker and planner
  • Must be able to work well on a team but also self-motivated to work alone
  • Experience and spiritual giftedness in administration, leadership, and management
  • Expertise in both verbal and written skills
  • Ability to recruit and organize people and tasks without sacrificing community or the accomplishment of goals
  • Experience and knowledge of church management software, specifically Church Community Builder, and how such a system can be maximized for greater church health and ministry impact

Personal Characteristics & Qualifications

  • Must be a born-again follower of Jesus Christ, having put their faith and trust in Him as Savior and Lord and be growing in Christlikeness
  • Must agree with Edgewood’s doctrinal statement
  • Must be “above reproach” (I Timothy 3:2) and accountable to leadership
  • Must meet the Biblical requirements for an Elder (1 Timothy 3:2-7 and Titus 1:5-9) and exhibit the Fruit of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5
  • Must be a man of character, who is competent, and who has chemistry with the EBC ministry team
  • A good grasp and hearty endorsement of the Biblical orientation and values of Edgewood
  • Must be a self-starter and an initiative-taker with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to accomplish tasks efficiently and effectively

Just a 10-minute drive across the river is Uptown Davenport, which features a few historic landmarks such as the Iowa Soldiers’ Orphans’ Home which took in homeless children from all of Iowa’s ninety-nine counties following the Civil War, and Ambrose Hall which was the original building of St. Ambrose University Aside from landmarks. Uptown contains some entertainment venues too, such as the Great Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, which hosts fairs, stock car racing, and many other events. NorthPark Mall is the city’s main shopping mall and has 160 stores.
