Associate Pastor of Worship and Family Ministries Full Time

Summary

The Associate Pastor of Worship and Family Ministries is a position responsible for the development, oversight, and implementation of all aspects of the ministries at Falling Water Baptist Church that specifically involves music, children, and youth ministries. To that end, he is encouraged to and may also call upon the various committees involved in these ministries for further counseling and guidance. The associate pastor is expected to strengthen himself as a Christian leader by means of formal and informal training, giving special emphasis to private Bible study and devotions. He exhibits a Christ-like attitude and behavior at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Associate Pastor of Worship and Family Ministries has three primary roles.

First, he is to prayerfully plan and lead biblically rich worship services by using a variety of Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with the intent to maximize the glory of God from the praise of His people. To that end, he is to recruit, develop and give direction to worship and tech team members. Lastly, he is also needed to coordinate special Christian seasonal worship services, Choir Sundays, and assist with music and tech for weddings and funerals as needed.

Second, he is to serve in a supportive role to parents as they seek to teach and disciple their children. This associate pastor will cast this biblical vision, support parents through everyday equipping and resourcing, and maintain a simple calendar that seeks to give families time to minister to those in their spheres of influence. He is to identify, examine, and train potential volunteers for family ministry, developing, empowering, and supporting them to serve in their unique areas of giftedness. In coordination with the children and youth committees, he is responsible for the selection and implementation of age-appropriate curriculum that is biblically based and Christ honoring. As it pertains specifically to youth ministry, he is to personally lead and instruct youth students regularly, training them in godliness by word and deed and is responsible for encouraging each student through teaching and personal interaction to pursue a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Third, he is to consult with, aid, and facilitate any directive the lead pastor requests in support of the overall mission of the church. He may be asked to administer various kinds of care or counseling to members or prospective members. And lastly, administrative work may be necessary to perform in an attempt to enable the lead pastor to allocate more time to the ministry of the Word and prayer.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field (Bible/Theology/Biblical Counseling, Worship Ministry, Family/Student Ministry, Pastoral Ministry, etc.) from theologically conservative Bible College or Seminary is required. At least 5 years’ experience in ministry is preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be an ordained Southern Baptist Minister or is currently pursuing ordination.
