ActiveThis role is part of the Family Ministry at FFBC and works under the supervision with the Pastor of Families (e.g., Family Pastor). The Director will direct all activities for the Weekday Education (WDE) program at FFBC, including enrollment, activities, and the management of WDE staff and budget. They will be committed to reaching and serving children and families to be disciples of Jesus Christ as an extension of the ministry purposes at FFBC.
Job Responsibilities
The Director of Weekday Education is responsible to perform specific and general tasks to coordinate all weekday education activities and events.
Major Responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain caring and supportive relationships between the school, students and their families.
- Maintain enrollment, conduct tours for potential students, prepare publicity materials, and keep the website up to date in order to attract new families.
- Collaborate with the Weekday Education Committee in preparation of WDE policies, an annual program budget, and material needs of the program; also, consult them to engage FFBC in ministry to WDE families
- Make necessary reports for bi-weekly employee payroll to church finance office.
- Receive all monies and issue receipts, prepare and maintain financial records, and work with the church financial secretary to ensure proper handling of monies for the school.
- Supervise Weekday employees, exercise hire/fire authority as needed, provide ongoing employee training as needed, conduct annual employee reviews and maintain all employee records; this includes the WDE Assistant Director and all staff.
- Prepare and annually review school curriculum, programs, materials, methods, activities, facilities, current research and practices to ensure excellence in all Weekday Education areas.
- Work alongside the Family Ministry team to invite families to worship at FFBC. Work to be an example of Christlike love and care for students and their families.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Maintain facilities to provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
- Act as a liaison between families and the Fayette County School System Pre-school Intervention Specialists and other local agencies in order to obtain necessary services for students.
- Work with the Fayette County Health Department to maintain current immunization and other health records.
- Be available to the WDE program’s needs during its operating hours (8:30 a.m-1:00 p.m.).
- Adherence to all policies and procedures outlined in the Personnel Policy Manual.
Other:
This is a general statement of job responsibilities and duties; however, the Director of Weekday Education is expected to perform other duties as required to support the core mission and ministries of Fayetteville First Baptist Church Weekday Education Program.
Supervision:
Oversee and evaluate paid and volunteer Weekday Education workers.
Education and Experience:
A college degree in early childhood education or a related field is required. Educational and ministry professional background is preferred. A current teaching certificate and/or leadership experience in a public or private school is preferred. 5 years of experience teaching pre-school and/or elementary grades is preferred but not required. A current teaching certificate and leadership experience in a public or private elementary school is preferred. Membership at FFBC is not required.
