Join a Healthy Church with a Clear Mission

First Baptist Church of Fairview Heights is a healthy, growing congregation with a strong foundation and a clear vision for the future. By God’s grace, we are spiritually vibrant, financially stable, and deeply committed to reaching our community.

We are not content to simply maintain—we are actively investing in the next generation and expanding our impact both inside and outside the church. Our people are engaged, our leadership is unified, and our ministries are positioned for meaningful growth.

We are seeking an Associate Pastor of Worship & Students who is excited to step into a church that is ready to move forward and make a lasting difference.

Position Overview
The Associate Pastor of Worship & Students will provide leadership to two vital and growing areas of ministry: corporate worship and student ministry (junior and senior high).

This role is designed for a leader-builder—someone who not only leads effectively but is passionate about developing others. In both worship and student ministry, a high level of intentional investment, mentoring, and leadership development is expected.

In addition, this pastor will contribute to the overall life and ministry of the church through pastoral care, guest engagement, and team collaboration.

Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a man who:

  • Has a clear and credible testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a confirmed call to ministry
  • Is theologically grounded and committed to continued growth and development
  • Meets (or is working toward) the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1)
  • Brings ministry experience and understands the rhythms and responsibilities of church leadership
  • Is humble, teachable, and willing to serve wherever needed
  • Thrives in a team environment and values unity with staff and congregation

Key Responsibilities
Worship Ministry Leadership

  • Lead the planning and execution of Christ-centered, engaging Sunday worship services
Develop and disciple a growing team of volunteers including vocalists, instrumentalists, and AVL team members
  • Foster a culture of excellence, participation, and spiritual engagement in corporate worship
  • Coordinate rehearsals, special services, and events such as weddings and funerals
  • Provide oversight of worship-related resources, systems, and budget
  • Serve as staff liaison to existing music ministries, including the senior adult choir

Student Ministry Leadership

  • Build a comprehensive, gospel-centered ministry to junior and senior high students
  • Teach regularly and provide leadership for both Sunday morning and Sunday evening student gatherings
  • Invest in students spiritually while equipping parents as primary disciple-makers
  • Develop meaningful rhythms of discipleship, fellowship, and mission (camps, trips, events, etc.)
  • Recruit, train, and support a team of committed and qualified volunteers
  • Maintain consistent communication with families and the broader church
  • Lead with intentionality—prioritizing depth and impact over busyness
  • Stay informed on cultural and generational trends to effectively engage the next generation

Life and Ministry at FBC Fairview Heights
This role is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to help shape the future of a church that is:

  • Healthy and Unified – Strong leadership, engaged membership, and a shared mission
  • Financially Stable – Positioned to support and expand ministry effectively
  • Outward-Focused – Actively engaged in reaching and serving the local community
  • Next Generation Driven – Committed to investing in students and young families
  • You will be supported by a team that values collaboration, clarity, and forward momentum—and a congregation eager to grow and make an impact.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in staff meetings, leadership teams, and church-wide gatherings
  • Serve in pastoral care opportunities such as visitation and guest follow-up
  • Contribute to the broader mission of the church in a flexible, team-oriented way
  • Occasionally assist in preaching, as needed

A Final Word
We are looking for someone who sees ministry not just as a set of responsibilities, but as a calling to build, equip, and lead. If you are passionate about worship, invested in the next generation, and ready to serve in a church that is healthy and moving forward—we would love to talk with you.
