ActiveThe Facility Manager is primarily responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the church building and property. This position also supervises the part-time custodian/s in their work of cleaning the church facility. The Facility Manager will report directly to the Lead Pastor, and will regularly report on work to him. The Facility Manager will also coordinate with the church’s Property & Space and Finance Committees related to the position’s responsibilities. This is a full-time, salaried position, with a minimum of 40 hours a week. Due to the nature of weekend services and additional activities on church property, this position may require occasional nights and weekends.
Qualifications:
This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. In order to do this job effectively, the Facility Manager should have prior experience in building/facility management, have a general understanding of building codes & best practices, be organized and detail oriented, be able to safely lift 50 pounds, and be humble & coachable. Because this position carries an extremely high level of trust, an extensive background and credit check will be performed, as well as drug testing. Because this position represents FBC Fairview Heights, the Facility Manager should be a growing Christian who is actively involved with a local church.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the good condition of the church facility and property by overseeing the various elements of the property such as electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, and custodial needs.
2. Facilitate the completion of work orders from the church staff & membership through the Ministry Assistant. Coordinate larger projects with Property & Space and Finance if necessary, including the recruiting of volunteers to assist.
3. Oversee the bid process for church projects and coordinate with the Lead Pastor, Property & Space, and Finance in accordance with the church’s policies.
4. Oversee grounds maintenance, including lawn, landscaping, snow/ice removal, and other areas. Ensure that external contractors are performing satisfactory work in all areas.
5. Supervise the part-time custodian/s in their work, including scheduling and task assignment. The Facility Manager will sign off on their time sheets each pay period.
6. Coordinate with the Ministry Assistant the purchase and delivery of all facility related items. These include but are not limited to paper products, cleaning supplies, equipment, and tools.
7. Perform general maintenance on church facility & property within the Facility Manager’s skill set, delegating and coordinating tasks to be finished.
8. Perform general custodial duties such as vacuuming, mopping, cleaning, emptying trash cans, restocking paper products in restrooms, etc.
9. Develop a regular maintenance schedule in conjunction with Property & Space to ensure the regular upkeep of all church property and facilities. This includes things like major cleaning of floors, carpet cleaning, HVAC replacement and upkeep, thermostat settings, and more.
10. Coordinate with the Property & Space Committee to maintain a running list of church projects that need to be completed, and work with the committee to put together work days.
11. Participate in the weekly staff meeting to be aware of church activities.
12. Coordinate with the Ministry Assistant any facility related concerns and scheduling issues for events and activities by church members or outside groups.
The Facility Manager should be able to work independently while also being a team player. This position will work regularly with numerous church committees, teams, members, and staff.
The Facility Manager is a salaried position with a minimum of 40 hours expected in a work week. Generally those hours will be 8:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday. Fridays can be flexed if there are weekend hours (including Sunday) and must be approved by the Lead Pastor.
Because it is a full-time position, the Facility Manager is eligible for benefits (medical and retirement) in line with the church’s Personnel Manual.
