Job Description of Key Responsibilities

The primary role of the Associate Pastor is to assist the Lead Pastor, Staff, Elders, and Deacons in facilitating the Discipleship ministries through the mission and vision of the church.

General Responsibilities:
● Cultivate disciple-making in the church by building and leading teams to promote spiritual growth.
● Execute pastoral duties including, but not limited to, preaching, teaching, counseling, and performing baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
● Have a lead role in planning and conducting worship services
● Efficiently partner with staff to assist as needed in other ministry areas

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Champion the Discipleship Pathway
    • Oversee Guest Services Teams as the main conduit to the pathway
    • Connect with guests, prospects, and new members to keep open lines of communication and encourage involvement.
    • Encourage commitment from current family members to heighten involvement.
    • Improve upon and Implement “next step” processes including: “Connect Cards;“ “Discover Classes”, informational sessions; one-on-one meetings; and various other methods of welcoming new families and individuals to our Church.
  2. Manage Discipleship Groups and Bible Studies
    • New Leader Development
    • Leader Training and Support
    • Curriculum Oversight
  3. Manage the media presence of the church
    1. Website, Social Media, YouTube, etc.
  4. Assist in leading “family life” events including, but not limited to: conferences; seminars; workshops; and team-building events.
  5. Regularly communicate with, train, encourage, and further support leaders in all of the ministry areas included above.
  6. Attend committee and team meetings as needed.
    • Bylaws, Building and Grounds, Finance, Local Missions, Safety and Security, etc.
  7. Assist the leadership of the church in furthering the Vision of the church: “We partner with people to help them live their purpose found in Jesus Christ.”
  8. Help create a culture of evangelism within the church family.
    • Be a model of God’s ministry of reconciliation
    • Assist in planning, developing, organizing and leading evangelism training, community outreach events, and other ministries.

 

Qualifications
■ Meet the Biblical qualifications of an elder outlined in 1 Timothy , Chapter 3, and Titus Chapter 1
■ Align with the values and doctrinal statements of FBC Swansboro.
■ Have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
■ Profess a calling and commitment to encourage and spiritually grow the Church.
■ Demonstrate the ability to preach and teach.
■ Exhibit effective leadership skills including: communication, change management, and organizational ability.
■ Be passionate about the lost and promote both personal and corporate evangelism.
■ Seminary graduate preferred (but not required) with emphasis being placed on experience, calling, and demonstrated abilities.

The compensation package will depend on education, experience, and other factors; around $60,000.
