Job Description for Associate Pastor/Worship Pastor
First Baptist Church, Bonifay, FL

First Baptist Bonifay is seeking an Associate Pastor/Worship Pastor who will be responsible for leading the music ministry and overseeing the technical aspects of worship services. The ideal candidate must have a passion for worship and a heart for ministry, as well as strong leadership and organizational skills.

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION
The Associate Pastor/Worship Pastor is called by the church and is responsible to the Senior Pastor for assisting the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive music program based on program tasks. This individual will work closely with the Senior Pastor in cultivating worship services which foster dynamic congregational singing, as well as leading a well-established adult choir.

We are seeking an individual who is called and gifted by God in the following areas:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
To direct the planning, conducting, and evaluating of a comprehensive music program.
To assist the Senior Pastor in planning all worship services by choosing congregational hymns and songs that engage the congregation and support the reading and preaching of God’s Word.
To coordinate the music program into the overall goals and emphases of the church.
To work with the music committee in determining music ministry opportunities.
To lead weekly rehearsals that serve a dual purpose:
Preparation for Sunday worship services
Cultivation of a Christ-centered community
To have the ability to adapt to different worship styles and traditions, while maintaining a high level of musical excellence and spiritual focus.
To recruit, audition, teach and train musicians and leaders to serve with musical skill and humility in the following:
              A.         Multi-generational choirs
(a)  Preschool/Children
                  (b)  Youth
                          (c)  Adult
              B.         Praise Team
              C.         Instrumentalists
8.     To supervise and schedule the volunteer work of the choirs, pianists, organists, instrumentalists, and praise teams.
9.     To give direction to a music ministry plan of visitation which includes both regular and prospective members of various activities in the music program.
10.  To request needed resources, such as space, equipment, finances, personnel, materials, and music literature through established channels.
11.  To be responsible for recommending the repair, replacement, and maintenance of all church-owned musical instruments, as well as worship related technology to the music committee/AV committee.
12.  To be proficient in current church software such as Planning Center, as well as operating systems for Windows and Mac products, including Microsoft Office.
13.  To assist in worship ministry and events for children and youth as needed, while involving them in worship services and events to encourage and develop their talent and leadership abilities.
14.  To lead worship for a minimum of two major musical presentations for outreach i.e., Seasonal, Night of Worship, Celebration of Praise, etc.
15.  To coordinate budget preparation with the music committee for assigned program ministry and administer the approved budget in these areas.
16.  To assume pastoral and discipleship care of the worship and A/V teams.

TECHNICAL
To oversee the technical aspects of worship services.
To demonstrate a working knowledge of sound system, lighting and other technical equipment related to worship.
To train and supervise volunteers who operate technical equipment during services.
To recruit and develop new AV/worship team members.
To ensure that all technical aspects of worship services run smoothly and efficiently.
To keep current with new technology and trends in worship production.
To supervise and schedule volunteer work of all sound/lighting/tech teams.

GENERAL
The worship pastor will maintain regular office hours in cooperation with pastoral staff.
The worship pastor will be accountable to the senior pastor on a day-to-day basis and shall keep the senior pastor informed of objectives, programs, and work schedules by means of regular staff meetings.
The worship pastor will collaborate with other ministry leaders to provide leadership of the church when other staff members are away for meetings, vacations, etc.
The worship pastor will represent First Baptist Bonifay at associational and denominational meetings, as well as promote the various associational and denominational ministries.
The worship pastor will work closely with the pastor and other ministry leaders to plan and execute church-wide events.
The worship pastor will perform general pastoral ministries of the church (teaching, counseling, visitation etc.) as requested by the senior pastor.
The worship pastor will serve as a liaison between the music committee and other church organizations.
8.     The worship pastor will serve as an ex-officio member of the Church Council, Lord’s Supper Committee, and AV Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS
A strong Christian faith and a heart for ministry with deep spiritual and moral convictions.
Bachelor’s degree in music or a related field with training/experience in worship ministry.
Agreement with the doctrinal position of First Baptist Bonifay.
Experience in leading choral and congregational worship.
Music proficiency – a strong understanding of music theory, must be able to read music fluently, and demonstrate a basic knowledge of keyboard and/or guitar skills.
Vocal skills – possess a confident and expressive singing voice which helps to create a meaningful worship experience.
Conducting skills – use clear and expressive gestures to communicate musical phrasing, dynamics, and tempo.
Experience with sound, lighting, and other technical equipment.
Ability to work well with volunteers and staff members and contributes to the overall vision, goals, and ministries of the church.
Teachable

PASTORAL REQUIREMENTS
To attend weekly staff meetings.
To be actively involved in evangelism, education, and discipleship throughout the year.
The Associate Pastor/Worship Pastor will report directly to the Senior Pastor
 To perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
