We are currently seeking an Associate Pastor Generational Discipleship. The Associate Pastor Generational Discipleship will work alongside the other pastoral staff to care for and lead the church. This position gives particular attention to fostering a culture of biblical discipleship across the church body, so that FBC Barnesville is a church full of disciple-making disciples. The Discipleship Pastor maintains a high-level view of disciple-making within the church, raising up and equipping leaders in a way that is scalable as the church grows.

ROLE SUMMARY
 
The Associate Pastor of Generational Discipleship works alongside other pastoral staff to care for and lead the church. This position gives particular attention to fostering a culture of biblical discipleship across the church body so that FBC Barnesville is a church full of disciple-making disciples. The Associate Pastor of Generational Discipleship maintains a high-level view of disciple-making within the church, raising up, and equipping leaders in a way that is scalable as the church grows.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Pastoral Care
·      Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing use of spiritual disciplines.
·      Develop relationships with lost people, pursuing the Great Commission, and helping the church to do the same.
·      Participate in FBC’s ministry of visitation with the Senior Pastor and other pastoral staff by visiting church members, especially the sick, bereaved, and those who have special needs.
·      Take initiative to care pastorally for the church, as a whole. Along with the other staff pastors, share the responsibilities of providing pastoral counsel to individual church members as needed.
·      Maintain a high-level awareness of disciple-making activities within the church, providing pastoral leadership in these areas as needed.
·      Maintain multiple, concurrent discipling relationships with church members to shepherd them toward growth as followers of Jesus.
·      Under the direction of the Senior Pastor, assist with the preaching ministries of the church by preaching occasionally as requested.
 
Discipleship
·      Develop and lead our church in a Gospel-centered holistic discipleship strategy.
·      Collaborate with the other staff pastors each semester to equip the church’s Sunday School and Small Groups ministry, giving particular attention to leader recruitment, training, and support.
·      Manage all areas of discipleship including Next Generation, Families, Seniors, Men, Women, etc., with the goal of seeing our church equipped to become disciple-making disciples of Jesus.
·      Identify and oversee specific individuals to serve as the leaders of each of these ministries, which may include overseeing Next Generation ministers who serve in these capacities.
·      Manage budgets related to discipleship; project future needs and communicate those needs through budget requests on a yearly basis.
 
Administrative Duties
·      In collaboration with other staff, the Associate Pastor Generational Discipleship will develop and submit an Annual Plan each year and then ensure the plan is executed in the coming year. The Annual Plan should align with the church’s Strategic Framework and should further our church-wide goals.
·      Maintain confidentiality with church information, ministry information, and personal information.
·      Abide by the policies and procedures of the church, including those outlined in the Personnel Policy Handbook and the Child Protection Policy.
·      Serve as a resource person to the church Nominating Committee.
·      Attend all church staff meetings, deacons’ meetings, and church conferences.
 
Other
·      Preach when called upon.
·      Assist in the preparation of a sermon series calendar and series creation.
·      Fulfill other duties assigned by our Senior Pastor as needed to help build-up our team and strengthen relationships.
 
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
·      Meets the biblical qualifications of a pastor (1 Tim. 3:1-6, Titus 1:6-9 & 1 Pet. 5:1-3).
·      A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.
·      A clearly understood calling to the Gospel ministry.
·      Holds a Bachelor of Theology Degree, or other Christian Education related ministry.  A seminary degree is preferred.
·      Minimum of 5 years of experience in Discipleship Ministry or a Generational Discipleship role.
·      Possesses a heart for the spiritual growth and discipling of those under their pastoral leadership.
·      Proves to have the ability to perform pastoral responsibilities such as preaching, teaching, and providing spiritual guidance and support to church members.
·      Collaborates well with other church staff members and supports all other church ministries.
·      Skilled in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships.
·      Passionate for personal discipleship with a proven ability to encourage discipleship across all age groups.
·      Expertise in current discipleship methods and models.
·      Ordained.
