Because of the church’s location, within a 12 mile radius is 82,000+ people. Church staff and leadership focus on creating an environment where people can know Jesus more and live life together. By doing so, people can guarantee they have a place to encounter Jesus and people who care about them deeply. We are seeking a director who has a desire to create such an environment for children.
The Children’s Director will develop, implement, and coordinate ministry to children (ages birth – 6th grade) and their parents. The director will oversee and help implement the strategy for discipleship for children and young families and help them integrate and become involved in the life and mission of First Baptist Church Diamond.
The Director of Children’s Ministry will serve under the supervision of the Senior Pastor and will work in collaboration with the staff in the continuing development of a Christian family ministry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop a clearly defined vision and strategy for discipleship within the children’s ministry that works in conjunction with the overall vision and strategy of First Baptist Church.
Develop and implement strategy for whole-family discipleship; working with families to equip and empower parents/families to disciple their children.
Provide oversight and planning for all aspects of Children’s ministry programming including Sunday morning Children’s Worship, Wednesday night Diamond Kids Klub, Vision-casting and planning for small community outreach events, and Family events/programming.
Provide oversight to the Children’s Ministry budget and help develop the budgetary needs for the upcoming year.
Lead and coach the Children’s Leadership team of volunteers.
§ Recruit, train, and motivate volunteers for leadership and service.
§ Plan, coordinate, and implement a yearly calendar in conjunction with the Church calendar and in collaboration with all ministries.
§ Establish goals and objectives to assist in the review, evaluation, and enhancement of the Children’s Ministry.
§ Provide an exciting and effective Children’s Worship experience.
§ Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Personnel Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS
Personal:
§ Strong leadership, organizational, administrative, and motivational skills.
Professional:
§ Has expressed and demonstrated a call to ministry to children (birth-6th grades) and families.
§ Experience around children and family ministry (4-5 years preferred).
§ Ability to connect relationally with parents and children.
§ Ability and willingness to live in and develop community relationships locally in accordance with our church vision.
§ A passion to create an environment for spiritual growth in children and their families.
§ Strong abilities and experience in equipping leaders and working with teams.
§ A willingness and ability to pioneer new things and inspire others to new initiatives.
§ Good teaching ability and communication skills.
§ Ability to make a creative contribution to the total church program.
§ Ministerial concern for all persons connected with children ministries.
§ Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people of all ages.
§ Ability to pass a background check.
Education:
§ High School Diploma is required.
§ Prefer the applicant to have a bachelor’s degree or higher, however experience in related ministry may be substituted.
