Overview

Under the direction of the Lead Pastor, and in connection with the mission of First Baptist Church Grain Valley, the Children’s Ministry Director will oversee the entire children’s program (Babies-5th grade). This position is a part-time, 25–28 hour commitment and is under the direction of the Personnel Committee.

Overview of Ministry Person

·       A person of integrity who has a passion to serve Christ and His Church.

·       Exemplify obedience to the Word of God and possess a strong devotional life.

·       In alignment with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

·       Become a member of First Baptist Church Grain Valley and live in the general area.

·       Possess at least three years’ experience in children’s ministry.

·       Be working toward a degree in children’s ministry or associated field

·       Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, people skills, conflict management skills, and computer skills.

·       Feel called to work with children and demonstrate gifts and calling to student ministry.

Overview of Ministry Responsibilities

1.     Be faithful to attend all regular church functions

2.     Provide leadership and oversight to the entire FBGV children’s ministry (babies-5th) in alignment with the ministry’s strategy and objectives.

a.      Create an atmosphere of evangelism and discipleship

b.     Oversee nursery and preschool program (except music)

c.      Oversee Sunday’s children’s church and Wednesday night kids program

d.     Work with Pastor of Worship/Education and Nominating Committee to formulate Sunday School strategy and enlist and train workers.

3.     Ensure that the Child Protection Policy is observed in all children’s ministry settings.

4.     Oversee any and all programs for parents/children (as in VBS, mothers of preschoolers, etc.).

5.     Develop relationships with families. Assist parents in the process of discipling children.

6.     Represent the children’s ministry at quarterly business meetings.

7.     Coordinate children’s activities and events with the church office and parents in a timely and efficient manner using all available resources.

8.     Work with the nominating committee to recruit volunteers to serve in children’s ministry.

9.     Meet with the Children’s Advisory Committee as directed

10.  Ensure that workers are vetted, trained, empowered, encouraged, and appreciated.

11.  Oversee children’s ministry budget.

12.  Attend all weekly staff meetings as well as any other regularly scheduled meetings.
