Children’s Ministry Director: Job Description

One of our core values is investing in families and we believe the Children’s Ministry Director is key in connecting with and ministering to families. The Children’s Ministry Director will work in conjunction with the Pastoral Staff in planning and ministering to children and their families.
 
Responsibilities:
·      Recruit and train volunteers/leaders for all areas of children’s ministry.
·      Coordinate nursery, Sunday school, and midweek volunteers.
·      Utilize Planning Center to maintain schedules
·      Serve as the primary children’s ministry teacher, utilizing appropriate curriculum
·      Provide volunteers with lesson materials when applicable.
·      Prepare any necessary multimedia presentations.
·      Lead in Vacation Bible School planning, training, and teaching in conjunction with church staff.
·      Background check and maintain records of all workers.
·      Oversee adherence to policies and procedures involving the children’s ministry.
·      Manage all printed material for children’s ministry.
·      Volunteer appreciation of all children’s ministry workers.
·      Coordinate outreach events with pastoral staff (Easter Egg Hunt, Back-to-school event, Breeze-O-Ween).
·      Collaborate with the Pastoral staff to develop a cohesive discipleship strategy.
·      Coordinate with Worship Pastor to schedule children to lead worship.

Qualifications:
·      A mature Christian
·      Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with children of various ages, as well as their parents.
·      Candidate must be able to work within a given budget, collaborating with the stewardship committee on substantial purchases.
·      Candidate must become a member of First Baptist Church as a part of the onboarding process, affirming the statement of faith.
·      Candidate must pass a background check.
 
This is a part-time, 20-hour-per-week, salary position at $20,000.
