First Baptist Church in Guymon, Oklahoma is currently seeking a full-time Worship Pastor who will join us in proclaiming the glory of God in Jesus Christ in the Panhandle of Oklahoma. The Worship Pastor will lead the congregation in worship, highlighting the glory of God in the Gospel of Jesus Christ through vocal and musical expressions of worship in our gathered community of faith. The Worship Pastor is a Pastor and recognized spiritual leader who works together with the other Pastors to fulfill our vision and priorities of biblical faithfulness.

REQUIREMENTS:
– Must be a mature and growing believer in Jesus Christ who seeks to walk in obedience to the Word of God and holds a passionate and firm understanding of the Gospel.
– Must meet the biblical qualifications for spiritual leadership in the church as found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
– Must have skill and gifting in singing and music, and be able to lead and equip others to use their singing and musical gifts in the worship ministry of the church.
– Must align with and support the vision and mission of our church and the spiritual leadership and direction of the present pastoral staff.
– Must be able and willing to work efficiently and effectively with church instrumentalists, church staff and volunteers.
– A Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree and formal training in both vocal and instrumental music is preferable but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

CHARACTER:
– Seek to maintain a vibrant faith in and love for Jesus Christ through personal bible study, prayer, service and spiritual growth.
– Pursue a program of personal growth and development in pastoral ministry by observing, reading about, studying and conversing with other faithful worship leaders.
– Maintain faithfulness and integrity in family, relationships, and stewardship of your time and the church’s resources.

PASTORAL MINISTRY:
– Committed to sharing the Gospel consistently and joyfully.
– Be willing and able to teach, disciple and shepherd church members from the Scriptures.
– Be willing and able to communicate a biblical theology of worship to the church by both example and exposition.
– Seek opportunities to pastor and disciple those involved in the worship ministry of the church, including spiritual, theological and musical development.

WORSHIP / MUSIC:
– Develop, coordinate, administer and lead the worship and music ministries of the church at regular and special services, utilizing the choir, musicians, worship teams and/or individuals, as appropriate.
– In worship, seek to facilitate an atmosphere that leads our gathered congregation to worship and glorify God through Jesus Christ by the Spirit.
– Together with the Senior Pastor (and other staff as necessary), coordinate and plan the church’s weekly worship services and special events. This regularly includes:
o Choosing songs fitting for worship – biblically faithful, gospel-rich, God-honoring songs and seeking to balance what is new to the congregation to that which is long known and loved.
o Planning and ordering the service according to the time constraints of the music portion of the worship service. This should be coordinated with the Senior Pastor.
o Provide the service outline to the church’s secretary in a timely manner each week.
– Recruit, train and organize all instrumental, vocal and technical worship team members.
– Communicate with and prepare the entire worship team (singers, sound tech, words operator, instrumentalists, etc.) for participation in worship.

ADMINISTRATION:
– Develop and administer an annual budget for the worship ministry in accordance with the financial policies of the church.
– Attendance and participation in the regular staff meetings of the church including any regular meetings, retreats, prayer and planning sessions.
– Commitment to regular office hours during the week as well as involvement with ministry outside of the office.
– Maintain music materials, supplies, instruments and the equipment of the church used in the worship ministry of the church.
– Oversight and coordination of ministries that serve the worship ministry of the church (sound system, projectors, words operators, media, computers, etc.)
– Evaluate and approve of music requested for weddings, funerals or special events at the church.

CHURCH LIFE:
– Join the membership of this church and agree to uphold our church’s covenant and statement of faith. All believing family members will also join the membership of our church.
– Participate in congregational life (small groups, fellowship, worship) as a healthy, committed church member.
