Preschool Director Full Time

Located on the North Shores of Oahu, HI, First Baptist Preschool of Haleiwa (FBPH) has been offering early childhood education since 1968. Operated by First Baptist Church of Haleiwa, our preschool is committed to operational excellence in delivering outstanding care and education to the glory and honor of God. Our approach is to cultivate and foster the social, physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development of each child within a nurturing Christian environment.

OVERVIEW:

A director with FBPH must be a Christ-centered person who joyfully and gladly confesses a living faith in Jesus Christ and desires to share Jesus’ love and saving grace through daily interactions with children, parents and co-workers. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Preschool Director to oversee the successful operation and management of our preschool facility in compliance with state regulations and educational standards. Along with a strong faith in Jesus, the ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, strong administrative skills, and a passion for early childhood education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the program, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
• Supervise, mentor and evaluate a team of teaching faculty and admin staff, promoting professional development and maintaining a cohesive Christian educational environment.
• Includes but is not limited to, filling in as classroom teacher if needed.
• Maintain State of Hawaii Department of Health Services (DHS) licensing regulations and standards with excellence.
• Ensure licensing requirements are met for both National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
• Manage administrative and financial aspects of the preschool program, ensuring resources are utilized effectively to support our spiritual and educational goals.
• Establish and recommend school budget for the following year.
• Track and keep accurate records for required grants.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and community fostering open communication and engagement.
• Maintain a positive relationship with First Baptist Church of Haleiwa and be able to liaison effectively with pastoral leadership and preschool committee members.
• Address conflicts or concerns among staff, parents, and/or church to foster resolutions and a harmonious environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Meet qualifications and education requirements for Preschool Director outlined by State of Hawaii DHS (Level 1 or Level 2) AND NAEYC (Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3).
• Strong understanding of Early Childhood Development and licensing requirements for State of Hawaii DHS, NAEYC and ACSI.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Planning and organizational skills to facilitate goal setting.
• Mathematical and financial skills to oversee the preschool budget.
• Member of First Baptist Church Haleiwa or working with pastor on a path in that direction.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office setting, extended periods of time keyboarding, answering phones and in-person inquiries, periods of walking around the campus.

COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with experience

SCHEDULE:

8-hour shift

Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Attend quarterly church member’s meeting and church service when representation from preschool is necessary.
