Associate Pastor:   Family Life and Students

 

General Requirements:
The person holding this position will be a professing and practicing Christian, a member of FBCLB, and a minister of the Lord Jesus Christ to all the fellowship of FBCLB, especially to the families and students. This person must have experienced a call from God to the Gospel Ministry, should have recognized this call by their home church, and should feel a definite leading of the Holy Spirit to serve at FBCLB. This person must be a growing disciple and possess a “serving spirit” that includes home, hospital, and crisis visitation. The person in this position will lead the families and students of FBCLB to a growing awareness of the claims of Christ on their lives through ministry and participation in the total life of the church. This person must be a witness for Jesus Christ and a soul winner to all people.

Recommended Qualifications: The person occupying this position will show evidence of education/training/performance in the following competence categories:

A professing Christian who is ordained and/or licensed to the gospel ministry.
Possess bachelor’s and/or advanced degrees from recognized and accredited institutions in fields related to family ministry.
Completed or nearing completion of a Seminary degree in Christian ministry.
Ability to develop, conduct, evaluate, and promote family-centric programs, with an emphasis on student ministry.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Administration:

Manage and monitor budget allocations for family and student ministry programs.
Provide training resources and instructions for ministry leaders and volunteers within the family ministries.
Ensure that all volunteers know the policies and procedures necessary for working with families and students.
Family Ministry:

Develop and implement programs such as marriage conferences and parenting workshops to strengthen family bonds.
Serve as a spiritual resource for parents on practical Biblical application in the household.
Plan and coordinate special projects and ministries for families, particularly focusing on the needs of families, such as parenting classes, family integration activities, and discipleship groups.
Maintain close relationships and communications with all church families, with a special emphasis on engaging new parents and providing guidance during early family development stages.
Student Ministry:

Organize and lead special events and ministries throughout the year to shepherd students’ spiritual development.  
Actively seek opportunities to engage students and their families both inside and outside the church through events, outreach, small groups, and school/community functions.
Provide counseling and opportunities for discipleship to students and their families.
·        Organize specific ministries to address the needs of college students.

Other Duties as Needed:

Be available to preach at any gathering as requested by the Senior Pastor.
·        Serve as ex-officio member of assigned church committees.

Help in planning for gatherings, missions, and any other church events.
·        Perform other ministry/administration tasks as required by the Senior Pastor, such as additional counseling, visitation, and other necessary meetings for the church community.

 

Relationships:
This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor and works closely with other church staff, ministry volunteers, and church committees.
