Job Title: Executive Pastor
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Classification: Full-time
Purpose: The Executive Pastor serves as the Senior Pastor’s chief liaison by assisting him in giving supervision to the church staff, leadership to the church’s mission, and oversight of the church’s daily operations.
Qualifications:
· Must meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
· Be in full agreement with our statement of faith (Baptist Faith and Message 2000)
· Demonstrate a growing relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced by action, attitude, and behavior.
· Have a clear call to vocational ministry accompanied with proven leadership abilities.
· Possess organizational and administrative abilities to lead multiple areas of related ministry and coordinate many volunteers.
· Ability to work with people of various temperaments, gifts, passions, and church backgrounds.
· Desire to work closely with others (especially staff) to develop meaningful partnerships and relationships.
· Possess a giftedness and confidence in public teaching and various forms of communication.
Essential Job Duties
1. OPERATIONS
· Implement and review all FBC Martin policies and by-laws.
· Assist and give guidance to the trustees in managing all church legal matters.
· Serve as a backup to the Financial Coordinator in managing payroll and financial matters.
· Work with the church treasurer and financial secretary to monitor and evaluate the church’s budget, spending, and financial contributions.
· Oversee any capital campaigns and/or building projects.
· Work with the church treasurer, financial secretary and budget planning committee to develop & present the annual budget and quarterly financial reports to the church.
· Provide direct oversight to various volunteer-led ministries, committees and teams.
2. STAFF SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
· Assist the Senior Pastor in giving supervision to the ministerial staff.
· Help to create and maintain a healthy staff culture through a shared vision, effective communication and unified effort in advancing the church’s mission.
· Participate in conversations with Lead Pastor regarding overall staffing and ministry effectiveness.
· Engage in weekly Sunday planning meetings with Senior Pastor.
· Assist the Senior Pastor in coordinating and conducting weekly staff meetings.
· Provide follow-up and ensure the implementation of any action to be taken from weekly staff meetings.
· Consult, assist, and troubleshoot with other staff regarding their ministries proactively speak into potential weak spots or areas of potential improvement in order to ensure alignment, effectiveness, and strategic development.
· Provide leadership to all non-pastoral staff including facility manager, Christian Wee Learn Director, and other support staff members.
· Assist Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee in conducting annual performance reviews for all church staff.
3. MISSION
· Assist the Senior Pastor and other ministerial staff members in setting ministry objectives and measurable goals aimed at fulfilling the church’s mission.
· Work with the Senior Pastor and pastoral team in the development of short- & long-term strategic planning for the church.
· Serve as the primary contact and liaison for the church with our strategic ministry and mission partners.
· Work with Senior Pastor and other ministerial staff members to develop the church’s ministry calendar.
· Assist in scheduling, planning and recruitment of volunteers for any church-wide ministry events.
4. OTHER
· Offer pastoral care and oversight to the church benevolence ministry.
· Fulfilling other pastoral and administrative duties as requested by the Senior Pastor.
Education and Experience
· A master’s degree or higher in Biblical studies or ministry related field is preferred.
· Experience serving in leadership within a church, Christian organization or ministry.
· Candidates with some sort of executive pastor experience preferred.
