First Baptist Mason: Family and Worship Minister

Summary

First Baptist Church of Mason, TX is a congregationally governed church in friendly cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist General Convention of Texas. First Baptist Mason is looking for an energetic, servant-orientated, and creative pastor who can help lead our family and worship ministries.

Responsibilities

Ministry & Administrative Responsibilities (70% of the time)

Engage personally in the ministry of the Word (one-on-one, small groups, or large groups depending on gifts/opportunities)
Actively develop God-honoring relationships with members of the church and community for the purpose of evangelism and discipleship
Provide guidance and oversight to Discipleship Group Ministries of the church including kids, students and adults.
Cooperate with the Lead Pastor to develop a plan to equip/train church members to fulfill their unique callings
Partner with other ministry staff to complete miscellaneous administrative tasks (for example, upgrading the church website or planning a ministry event)
Other pastoral duties as gifts, needs, and opportunities allow
Oversight of Music in Worship (30% of the time)

Oversight of First Baptist Mason’s worship team to engage/equip the congregation for worship through music
Work with the worship team to plan all worship services in cooperation with the Lead Pastor
Coordinate music & media for funerals, weddings, and other special events
Posses musical knowledge/skills sufficient to create a collaborative oversight of the worship band in a blended environment
Role Essentials  (Candidate must meet these criteria in order to be considered for the position)

Strong desire to satisfy the qualifications of a pastor as laid out in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1:
Blameless character
Thorough knowledge of Scripture
Ability to communicate Scripture clearly and compellingly
Demonstrates leadership experience
Willing to equip other leaders with musical abilities to lead worship
Working knowledge of various local church Discipleship/Christian Education strategies
Personal beliefs align with the Baptist Faith & Message
Adeptness and adaptability to computer applications
Must pass a criminal background check
Role Desirables (Preferred but not necessarily required)

Master’s degree from an accredited seminary (or actively pursuing higher theological education)
2+ years serving in a leadership role in a local church
Ability to lead music while playing an instrument (such as piano or guitar)

The Family and Worship Minister will provide leadership to help achieve the outcomes below

Family Ministry

A congregation that is growing in its understanding of the nature and process of discipleship, especially the value and role of relationships in spiritual growth
A congregation that is committed to one another and to the practice of relational discipleship
Ministry structures, systems, and plans that promote healthy, gospel-infused relationships which foster spiritual growth
A healthy and growing team of leaders equipping the saints to do the work of the ministry of making disciples
Worship Ministry
A congregation that is growing in its understanding, practice, and value of worship
Weekly worship services that glorify God and encourage active congregational participation
Healthy and engaged worship teams
Other Responsibilities

Assist with pastoral care as needed
Serve on the Teaching Team, preaching regularly(not required to lead worship and preach on the same week)
Assist with baptisms, dedications, funerals, and weddings as needed
Other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor
