The Children’s Leader is responsible for overseeing and leading the church’s ministry to children (typically from birth through elementary school). This role involves developing and implementing programs that nurture children’s spiritual growth, equipping volunteers, and fostering a welcoming environment for families. The Children’s Leader will work closely with church leadership, parents, and volunteers to create engaging, biblically sound experiences that help children develop a lifelong faith in Christ.

Qualifications:

*A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian discipleship.
*Experience in children’s ministry, education, or a similar leadership role.
*Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
*Ability to connect with children and create engaging, faith-based experiences.
*Proficiency in developing and leading volunteer teams.
*A heart for ministry, patience, and a passion for nurturing children’s faith. 
*Attendance required for services and special events.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Ministry Development

*Develop and oversee all aspects of children’s ministry, including children’s church, midweek programs, special events, and outreach activities.
*Vacation Bible School (VBS) – curriculum, advertising, registration, volunteers, dinner, and fundraising
*Wednesday nights – curriculum, planning, celebrations, trips, volunteers
*Children’s Church – curriculum, snacks, volunteers
*Trunk or Treat – candy collection, volunteers, planning
*Back to School – plan a party or event to promote programs and welcome kids
*Christmas – kids’ program
*Easter – help plan the egg hunt and program (if applicable)
*Camp – advertise, register, and chapporone (if applicable)
*Baby Dedication – assist pastor and church secretary with event
*Promotion Sunday – assist pastor and church secretary with event (rising 3rd grade receive Bibles)
*Ensure all programs align with the church’s mission, values, and theological beliefs.
*Provide spiritual guidance to children and their families.

Volunteer Recruitment & Training

*Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers to serve in children’s ministry.
*Equip and support volunteers with curriculum, teaching resources, and leadership development.
*Foster a team-oriented environment that values collaboration and servant leadership.
*Fill in as needed when Sunday School, Children’s Church, or other volunteers are absent
 

Teaching & Curriculum Development

*Select or develop biblically sound, engaging, and age-appropriate curriculum.
*Teach and facilitate lessons that encourage spiritual growth and biblical literacy.
*Incorporate creative teaching methods, such as storytelling, worship, crafts, and interactive activities.

Family & Community Outreach

*Trunk or Treat and VBS are the largest outreach events
*Inviting parents and grandparents to Wednesday night have been successful (crafts, games, dinner, etc.)

Safety & Administration

*Ensure that all children’s ministry programs comply with church safety policies and child protection guidelines. Background checks are recommended for all volunteers.
*Establish and enforce rules for behavior and expectation during children’s programs
*Manage the children’s ministry budget and resources responsibly.
*Order or purchase supplies for crafts and activities
*Organize and stock the craft closet
*Attend Church Council meetings
*Communicate with the church secretary for orders, announcements, and advertisements.
