ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF STUDENT MINISTRIES JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
The First Baptist Church of Chesterfield (FBCC) is a vibrant, multi-generational church, drawing families across St. Louis and the surrounding communities. The Associate Pastor of Student Ministries is responsible for building young disciples for Christ through prayer, teaching God’s Word, building relationships, and developing leaders. The Associate Pastor of Student Ministries leads a comprehensive approach to children’s and youth ministries (K-12) in worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach. This position creates programs, activities, and experiences to encourage and inspire students in their next steps with Christ.
Education and Experience
Required minimum of a bachelor’s degree or progress towards a degree in theology, Christian education, or other educational training from an accredited college or university.
Prefer experience directing a youth ministry, including leadership of ministry and volunteering teams.
Prefer knowledge and experience in child development or K-12 education.
Responsibilities
Design, plan, and lead the Student Ministry program in conjunction and alignment with the FBCC’s mission and vision.
Create a strategy to reach, assimilate, and engage children, youth, and families.
Lead execution of goals, objectives, productivity, effectiveness, and success of the student ministries team.
Recruit, train, schedule, and lead volunteers.
Develop effective organizational processes for Student Ministry staff on training, programs, events, and other matters.
Foster open communication with parents/guardians directly or through the student ministry team.
Provide pastoral care for children, youth, and families within the church, including crisis intervention, hospital visits, and follow-ups.
Oversee all programming, curriculum, and ministry for the Students Ministries, including Sunday mornings, midweek study, online worship, mission trips, community service, and other events/activities.
Evaluate and make recommendations regarding teaching materials and methods used in student programs.
Apply and develop knowledge of child development from infancy to childhood and adolescence to ensure age-appropriate biblical training, ministry, and worship.
Develop and maintain the budget for Student Ministry activities in consultation with church leadership.
Attend Sunday school, worship services, weekly staff meetings, and other church events as requested.
Attend and complete all training required by First Baptist Church of Chesterfield.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Working Environment
This position primarily works in a typical office or sanctuary environment, is generally sedentary, and uses computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment to draft documents, communicate with church staff, and fulfill other position duties.
A flexible schedule is required as this position involves working evenings and weekends for scheduled events, activities, and services.
Travel Requirements
Travel may be required to conduct services, visit church members, perform community outreach, and attend meetings away from the primary church location.
A valid state-issued driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record are required.
FBCC Church Membership
The Associate Pastor of Student Ministries is required to be a member of the First Baptist Church of Chesterfield. They are expected to genuinely hold and adhere to the same religious beliefs as expressed by FBCC and commit to the stewardship of the church.
