Position Overview
The Southern Baptist Preacher serves as the spiritual leader and primary teaching authority within a Southern Baptist congregation. This individual is responsible for guiding church members in their faith, providing biblical teaching, overseeing worship services, and fostering spiritual growth in alignment with Southern Baptist doctrine and traditions.

Key Responsibilities
·       Preach and Teach: Prepare and deliver biblically sound sermons during regular worship services, special events, and other occasions. Lead Bible studies and educational programs for all age groups.

·       Pastoral Care: Provide counseling, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to individuals and families within the congregation. Visit homes, hospitals, and care facilities as needed.

·       Leadership: Work collaboratively with church staff, deacons, committees, and volunteers to set a vision for ministry, outreach, and growth. Lead by example in faith and conduct.

·       Evangelism and Outreach: Promote evangelism within the church and community, encouraging members to share their faith and participate in missions.

·       Administration: Oversee church operations, manage budgets and resources, and ensure compliance with Southern Baptist policies and procedures.

·       Conduct Ceremonies: Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other significant rites and ceremonies in accordance with Baptist customs.

·       Doctrinal Integrity: Ensure all teachings and practices align with the beliefs and statements of faith of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Qualifications
·       Education: Seminary training.

·       Ordination: Must be an ordained Southern Baptist minister in good standing.

·       Experience: Prior experience in pastoral ministry or preaching is highly desirable.

·       Personal Attributes: Strong faith, integrity, compassion, leadership skills, and effective communication abilities.

·       Commitment: Dedication to the mission and doctrinal positions of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Working Conditions
·       Regular weekend and evening commitments for worship services, meetings, and pastoral duties.

·       Flexibility to respond to emergencies and urgent needs among church members.

Reporting Structure
The Southern Baptist Preacher typically reports to the church’s Trustees, Elders, or equivalent governing body, and works in close partnership with church staff and volunteers.
