Principle Functions

  • The office of Senior Pastor has three basic areas of responsibility:
    1. Leadership
    2. Care
    3. Proclamation
  • For the Senior Pastor to be successful in the fulfillment of his duties, it not only takes dedication, but the prayers, cooperation, support, and understanding of this church. The Senior Pastor will be a minister and leader who works in harmony with the church in fulfilling the vision God has for First Baptist Perry.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • He shall be chief staff officer responsible for supervising the church staff in conjunction with the Associate Pastor of Administration.
  • He shall correspond on behalf of the church.
  • He shall oversee along with the Associate Pastor of Administration the efficient and effective operation of the church office, record system, programs and all public relation materials, news releases, mail-outs, etc. 
  • He shall seek to develop lines of communication with community agencies, schools and organizations, whereby, he may be a catalyst in the community for the God of the church and the Kingdom of God.
  • He shall represent the church in the life of the Southern Baptist Convention and Rehoboth Association. He shall inform the church of events in the Southern Baptist.
  • He will give overall direction and leadership to the church in concurrence with the By-Laws of the First Baptist Church of Perry.

Care

  • He shall be available for counseling in time of need to members and nonmembers.
  • He will visit shut-ins, nursing homes, and hospitals as needed.
  • He will conduct funerals and weddings as required.
  • He will minister in times of death, sickness, joy and hurts.
  • He will witness to the lost and visit prospects on a regular basis.

Proclamation

  • To preach and teach the word of God in this pulpit, in the community and wherever opportunities may arise to reach the lost and challenge the saved. 
  • To study, read and attend events that will inform, inspire and equip him for the task of proclamation.
  • He will invite guests to proclaim and teach as needed as opportunities arise. 
  • He will conduct the ordinances of The Lord’s Supper and Baptism
