About Us:
First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda, FL is a smaller church with a rich history. We average between 90 to 110 in our worship gatherings. We have a blended worship style, utilizing both modern worship songs and hymns. Along with a lead pastor, there is an associate pastor, worship director and children’s director on staff.
Job Summary:
The Youth Pastor will oversee all aspects of our youth ministry, providing spiritual leadership, mentorship, and support to our youth and their families. This role involves planning and leading engaging programs, teaching biblical truths, and fostering a welcoming environment where youth can connect with God and one another. The ideal candidate will have a heart for young people, a commitment to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and a desire to partner with parents and church leadership to build a thriving ministry.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive youth ministry program, including weekly Wednesday night youth group meetings, overseeing youth Sunday School, and discipleship opportunities.
Plan and lead events, such as retreats, mission trips, summer camp, service projects, and fun activities, to foster spiritual growth and fellowship.
Teach age-appropriate lessons rooted in Scripture, aligning with Baptist doctrine.
Provide care, counseling, and encouragement to youth and their families.
Recruit, train, and supervise a team of adult volunteers to support youth ministry.
Collaborate with the Lead and Associate Pastor and church leadership to integrate the youth ministry into the church’s broader vision.
Establish relationships with local schools and community organizations to connect with unchurched youth.
Communicate effectively with parents through regular updates, meetings, and involvement opportunities.
Note: There is potential to work with young adults as well if the candidate is qualified to do so. This would primarily include leading a weekly Bible study, working with the young adult Sunday school teacher, and establishing events throughout the year.
Qualifications:
A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a clear testimony of faith.
Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Alignment with Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Previous experience in youth ministry or working with teens (volunteer or paid).
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
The ability to connect with youth and relate to their challenges in today’s culture.
A team player with a collaborative spirit and a teachable heart.
Must pass a background check and adhere to church safety policies.
Salary:
$20,000
