First Baptist Church, St. Simons Island, Georgia is dually aligned with both the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Southern Baptist Convention. We airm God’s call on both men and women in leadership and ministry. We are seeking a Minister to Youth and Children who will provide Christ-centered leadership, vision, teaching, discipleship, and pastoral care for the children and youth ministries of First Baptist St. Simons Island.  The minister will develop and oversee ministries for children from birth through elementary school and youth from middle school through high school. The Minister to Youth and Children will work closely with the Senior Pastor, church sta?, parents, volunteers, and church leadership to create safe, welcoming, biblically sound, and age-appropriate ministries by:

• Modeling and teaching children/youth the love of Jesus.
• Teaching the Bible and helping children/youth understand what they believe and why they believe it.
• Providing a positive place for children/youth to build healthy friendships.
• Partnering with families to bring faith beyond the church into their homes, schools and community.

This position is a forty hour per week, salaried position, supervised by the Senior Pastor.

Expectations and Responsibilities in the Area of Children’s Ministry (Birth-5th Grade)
• Maintain regular office hours and attend weekly staff meetings
• Attend monthly Deacons Meetings and quarterly Church Conferences
• Attend and participate in all worship services
• Maintain Children’s Sunday School – Help/train teachers, find curriculum, etc.
• Coordinate Children’s Church and Wednesday Night Children’s Programming
• Identify, equip and train leaders and volunteers
• Maintain Children’s Ministry Budget and provide yearly input regarding expenses
• Maintain Children’s Ministry Spaces (be sure rooms are set up and supplies needed are available)
• Coordinate and help with Children’s Sermons
• Coordinate Children’s Church (during the 10:30 worship service)
• Coordinate Curriculum/Lessons
• Work alongside and Supervise First Baptist Church’s Childcare Coordinator
• Attend all Family Ministry Meetings
• Maintain Safety
o Maintain and Implement Safe Church Policy
o Make sure all volunteers have background checks
• Plan and Coordinate Vacation Bible School

* Plan summer activities and opportunities for children and families
• Plan activities and mission opportunities for children and families
• Plan and implement at least one special activity every other month
• Visit with families (especially if they are in need)
• Plan Annual Children’s Sunday Worship Service (could be after VBS)
• Create connections between the Church, FBC Preschool and St. Simons
Elementary School
• Marketing for Children’s Ministry Programming
• Advocate for and establish opportunities for children to be involved in all ministries
of the church (worship services, missions, music, etc.)
• Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

• Maintain regular o?ice hours and attend weekly sta? meetings
• Attend monthly Deacons Meetings and quarterly Church Conferences
• Attend and participate in all worship services
• Provide leadership to all Youth Ministry Programming
• Identify, equip and train leaders and volunteers
• Create a Youth Leadership Team of Adult Volunteers
• Maintain Youth Ministry Budget and provide yearly input regarding expenses
• Maintain Youth Ministry Spaces
• Lead Youth Group
o Create a weekly program that is Biblically Based, safe, sacred and fun
• Maintain Youth Sunday School – Help/train teachers, find curriculum, etc.
• Provide support for Youth Music programming (currently praise band)
• Create Wednesday Night Programming for Youth
• Plan and lead Summer Youth Mission Trip
• Plan activities and mission opportunities for youth
• Plan and implement at least one special activity every other month
• Plan summer activities and opportunities for youth
• Show support for youth outside of church (attend sports, graduations, etc.)
• Visit with families (especially if they are in need)
• Plan Annual Youth Sunday Worship Service, where Youth are invited to participate (could be a graduate recognition Sunday)
• Create connections between the Church and the Boys and Girls Club
• Maintain Safety
o Maintain and Implement Safe Church Policy
o Make sure all volunteers have background checks
• Marketing for Youth Ministry Programming
• Advocate for and establish opportunities for youth to be involved in all ministries of the church (worship services, missions, music, etc.)
• Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
