Kids Ministry Director Full Time

Position Summary:

The Kids Ministry Director serves under the direct supervision of the Next Gen Pastor. He/she will be responsible to the Church to organize and execute a comprehensive program of Christian development and education for children, first through fifth grades.

 

Church profile:

First Baptist Church of Universal City, Texas is located in the San Antonio area.  The church currently ministers to families through two worship services and two Sunday Schools on Sunday mornings.     Church size is 1200 in Worship and 1100 in Sunday School. 

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

– Previous church staff experience in children’s ministry preferred.

– Should have a college degree. 

– Familiarity with and experience in a variety of programs for children.

– Ability to plan, organize, train, and supervise programs and events with leaders.

– Training or experience in spiritual, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children desired     

– Ability to communicate and relate well with children and parents.

– Team player

 

Specific Responsibilities:

1.                  Organize and provide leadership for three main areas of children’s ministries:

a)      Ministry to Children, grades 1-5

b)      Ministry to Parents of Children

c)      Ministry of leadership development for adults who serve in the children’s ministries

2.                  Evaluate the existing programs involving children of the Church; suggest and initiate changes as required to meet the needs of these groups.

3.                  Plan, coordinate, conduct and evaluate ministries and special events such as Vacation Bible School, Children’s Parenting Discipleship classes, Baptismal Counseling, Leadership Appreciation Events, Fellowships, Camps, Retreats, New Christian classes and other opportunities.

4.                  Organize and provide leadership for a children’s outreach ministry through the Sunday School that supports the church-wide outreach ministry.

5.                  The Director will keep current on child education, administration, and promotion through personal study and attendance at training conferences.

6.                  The Director will work with the Finance Committee in the budgeting and expending funds for the assigned ministry areas.

7.                  Coordinate with the First Baptist Academy Administrator concerning joint children’s ministries and activities.

8.                  Will serve as a liaison for the Wednesday morning Homeschool Group in scheduling meetings and communicating information between the group and church staff.

9.                  Ensure compliance with Church policies regarding child abuse prevention and infectious diseases. Conduct systematic and periodic safety and cleanliness inspections of all spaces, equipment and personnel associated with the children’s ministries.

 

 

Compensation:

-$50,000 salary, plus benefits.
