First Baptist Church is in a community of 14,000 located in middle Tennessee. Our mission is for our members to live out the Great Commandment so we can fulfill the Great Commission. We subscribe to the doctrinal statement of The Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000.

We are seeking to fulfill the position of Pastor of Discipleship and Administration.  Applicants for this position should have a strong, successful background in all aspects of church discipleship, as well as administrative experience working with a multi-staffed church.  Previous experience attained through either higher education or through practical experience is required.  This person will work closely with the Senior Pastor to develop ministries to reach our community for Christ, and with various committees and teams within the church.

General Expectations:

  • The Pastor of Discipleship & Administration should be a born again, growing disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Ordained and licensed into the gospel ministry of Jesus Christ.
  • Have conviction about the need to witness, tithe, live a morally clean life and set a proper example to those around him.
  • Give testimony of a divine calling to enter the gospel ministry.
  • Lead, with the assistance of Senior Pastor, the organized outreach ministry of FBC.
  • Seek the Holy Spirit for Gods direction in spiritual growth in the church, and for the discipleship of each of our members.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervise the entire religious education program of FBC.  Religious education includes, but not limited to, Sunday School, Small Groups, and Discipleship Groups (Children, Students, and Adult ministries).
  • Desire to continue personal growth by attending seminars and other training opportunities.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement strategies for spiritual growth.
  • Maintain clear communication with all church teams/committees.
  • Enlist, encourage, and equip volunteers to assist in ministry opportunities.
  • Prepare an annual budget reflecting the needs of the entire religious education/discipleship program, and administrate that budget once approved by the church.
  • Serve as a Purchasing Agent of the church by overseeing the purchasing of supplies and equipment.
