ActiveThe Executive Pastor of Adult Ministries serves as an executive leader and systems architect responsible for designing, expanding, and multiplying all adult groups, discipleship pathway assimilation, and all missions at First Baptist Church Powder Springs.
Reporting directly to the Senior Pastor and serving on the Executive Team, this pastor personally leads all adult small groups and adult education environments. Additionally, this role provides direct executive supervision and pastoral coaching to the Senior Adult Pastor and the Mobilization and Missions Pastor.
The primary objective of this role is to build an Ephesians 4:11–12 equipping culture that moves adults from worship rows into reproducing discipleship circles along the church pathway:
Key Relationships
⚬ Reports Directly To: Senior Pastor (Pastor Chip Dean)
⚬ Supervises Directly:
⚬ Senior Adult Pastor
⚬ Mobilization and Missions Pastor
⚬ Lay Leadership Coordinators (Men’s, Women’s, and Group Coaches)
⚬ Department Administrative Support
⚬ Leadership Teams: Executive Team and Lead Team.
Core Responsibilities
1. Personal Direction of All Adult Groups & Discipleship
⚬ Personally oversee, design, and direct all adult group environments across the church:
⚬ Sunday Morning Adult Bible Fellowships / Sunday School.
⚬ Midweek & Wednesday Night Adult Classes and focused seasonal cohorts (Rooted, Financial Peace, Marriage, Biblical Literacy).
⚬ Weekday studies, off-campus home groups, Men’s Ministry, and Women’s Ministry.
⚬ Build a reproducible leadership bench by recruiting, vetting, and training teachers, facilitators, and apprentices.
2. Executive Oversight: Senior Adult Ministry
⚬ Supervise, coach, and pastor the Senior Adult Pastor, conducting regular 1-on-1 check-ins and strategy reviews.
⚬ Mobilize senior adults to invest their wisdom, prayers, and life experience into raising up the next generation.
3. Executive Oversight: Mobilization & Missions Pastor
⚬ Supervise and coach the Mobilization and Missions Pastor across two primary functions:
⚬ Assimilation & Next Steps: Oversee the guest integration funnel from Sunday worship into Next Steps onboarding, membership, and group placement.
⚬ Missions & Mobilization: Guide and expand Local Missions partnerships (schools, Upward, city outreach), Church Planting sponsorships, and Global Mission Trips.
4. Executive Leadership & Pastoral Duties
⚬ Serve on the Executive Team, driving systems alignment, cross-departmental coordination, and budget stewardship.
⚬ Track discipleship dashboard metrics (group connection ratio, 90-day retention, volunteer rosters) using church management software (ChMS).
⚬ Oversee pastoral care, hospital visitation, counseling, ordinance administration, and weekend platform presence.
Qualifications & Profile
⚬ Spiritual Character: A maturing walk with Christ characterized by humility, integrity, and servant leadership; fully aligned with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 and FBCPS values.
⚬ Leadership Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of demonstrated pastoral leadership in a healthy, growing church context (800+ attendance preferred).
⚬ Equipper Mindset: Proven track record as a leader of leaders who builds systems, coaches staff, and mobilizes lay teams rather than operating as a task “doer”.
⚬ Strategic Acumen: Skilled in solving organizational bottlenecks, managing matrix reporting structures, and bridging multi-generational demographics.
