The Associate Pastor of Worship is part of the staff team and is to have one goal in mind – introducing people to Jesus Christ and enabling them to grow in a personal relationship with him.
Music, Media, and Worship
1. Support the mission and message of the church through the music and worship service by:
a. Prayer, planning, design, and execution.
b. Selecting and preparing music for each of the worship services.
c. Plan and coordinate and lead music for seasonal services (i.e. Christmas, Easter, etc.), revivals and/or conferences.
2. Maintain appropriate musicians and vocalists for worship services.
a. Recruit new volunteers and regularly train existing volunteers to pursue spiritual and musical excellence.
b. Manage a rotating schedule for musicians, vocalists, and the media team.
c. Conduct weekly rehearsals and ensure all technical aspects of worship, including audio and visual (A/V) media.
3. Recruit and maintain appropriate workers for sound and technology presentations.
4. Maintain appropriate instrumentation and technology associated with worship.
a. This includes lighting, sound reinforcement, computer support for playback, and projection.
b. Develop and manage technology, equipment, and overall ministry budget in consultation with the senior pastor and finance committee.
5. Assist in the creation and/or procurement of videos and/or other creative elements for Sunday morning services. This may include:
a .Original video ideas
b .Movie and/or television clips
c. Dramas
d. Testimonials
Other Expectations and Duties
1.Serves under the supervision of the Senior Pastor, carrying out assignments given by the Senior Pastor.
2.Being willing to serve in other areas beyond just the realm of worship ministry.
3.Support the Senior Pastor in the overall vision, casting, and leadership of the church.
4.Be active in making disciples.
5.Function as second/back up speaker to the Senior Pastor with an “emergency sermon” always at the ready.
6.Assist the Senior Pastor in the management of local media, communication, social media outlets, and overall Web presence.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor. These may include:
a. Lead Bible studies or discipleship classes in cooperation with Senior Pastor’s vision for the church.
b. Assist Senior Pastor in outreach, hospital visits, and home visits to members and non-members.
Administrative Duties
1. Maintain an inventory of church property and equipment related to this ministry area.
2. Develop recommendations for appropriate committees and ministry teams on financial matters and implement procedures in accordance with policies approved by the stewardship committee.
3. Ensure compliance of all applicable government regulations and reporting requirements.
4. Work with the Nominating Committee to ensure that each committee and ministry team is organized and functioning, including the preparation of position descriptions for each committee and ministry team.
5. All staff members will be expected to assist in other tasks when necessary, so long as their primary responsibilities are met.
Education and Experience
1. Prefer a Bachelor’s Degree, in music, theology, or related ministry field; in pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s in seminary is acceptable.
2. At least 5 to 7 years’ experience preferred as a staff member in a ministry leadership capacity.
3. The candidate will possess or be eligible to receive an ordination from a Southern Baptist Church Body.
4. The candidate is someone who is a self-starter and does not require a great deal of supervision.
The Worship Minister will remember that he is the living expression of the Holy God and is expected to live an exemplary life, both public and private. He will always manifest a regard for the good reputation of the church, its ministries as well as its Senior Pastor and other staff members. He will hold in confidence all information of a delicate or personal nature unless specifically given permission to do so. He is expected to support FBCQC with his time, talents, and tithe. Any violation of trust or any action that would bring shame on the cause of Christ or FBCQC will be brought before the appropriate committee designated by the church body for discipline and/or dismissal.
