OVERVIEW

First Baptist Church Ruidoso is seeking a musically-gifted, spiritually-mature, biblically-grounded Christian to lead  worship ministries under the direction of  the  Senior Pastor. The ideal candidate should have experience leading worship and shepherding worship teams at a similar-sized church. The main purpose of the Worship Pastor’s position is to give honor, praise, and glory to God. Compensation and Benefits to be determined.

Willing to discuss possibility of worship only (part-time or full-time), or a combination of worship/communications or worship/youth, as God leads. Possibility of housing available with this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•             Work with the Senior Pastor to plan worship services.

•             Lead the musical portion of worship services.

•             Lead all music ministries in the church; helping with wedding, funerals, and special projects when available.

•             Develop a process to regularly identify and deploy new volunteers in the church’s worship ministry.

•             Shepherd, train, manage, and care for the volunteer worship teams (with grace and flexibility).

•             Develop an annual worship ministry budget and be able to work within that budget.

•             Look for ways to inspire non-musical worship experiences for the church body.

•             Oversee the church’s worship tech ministry.

•             Attend church staff meetings and retreats

•             Work with youth and children’s ministry leaders to find worship leaders for age-graded worship experiences within the church. (Some of this is already in place).

•             Oversee the maintenance of all musical instruments owned by the church.

.            Regularly include devotion/prayer time as a part of team rehearsals

REQUIREMENTS

•             Experience leading worship in a similar church setting.

•             Skill as a vocalist and instrumentalist.

•             Broad knowledge of Christian worship music across multiple styles and generational tastes.  Traditionally, First Baptist Church, Ruidoso prefers a blend of hymns and contemporary praise songs. The church longs for a “spirit-led” time of worship.

•             Should be proficient in reading music.

•             Should have experience leading and managing teams.

•             Some formal training in music (and specifically church music) is preferred.

•             A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9).

•             A calling to ministry.
