Core Responsibilities:

• Lead out in implementation of church vision and mission – model the Abiding Life.

• Meet with the Accountability Team monthly.

• Build meaningful relationships with staff and congregation.

• Lead or delegate the leadership planning, coordinating, and evaluating the worship services; prepare and deliver sermons; and lead in observance of the ordinances of Baptism and Lord’s Supper.

• Develop a calendar of sermons and schedule pulpit speakers.

• Serve as moderator of church business meetings.

• Approve the selection of all staff members.

• Work with deacons, church officers and ministry teams as they perform their assigned responsibilities.

• Lead the church in an effective program of witnessing and a caring ministry for persons in the church and community.

• Lead in encouraging worldwide mission support (ex. mission trips/partners).

• Provide administrative leadership for the total church vision, serve as administrator, and supervise of the pastoral staff.

• Cooperate with associational, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern; keep the church informed of denominational development; represent the church in civic matters.

Shepherding, and Pastoral Care:

• Participate in shepherding and pastoral care of congregation members.

• Meet with Accountability Team for prayer and training.

• Participate in general pastoral duties as needed (weddings, funerals, counseling, etc.).

• Model and lead in equipping the church for ministry.

• Model and train in areas of evangelism and disciple making.


• Meet with pastoral staff, support staff, and ministry leaders to develop and coordinate church calendar.

• Meet regularly with Pastoral Needs Ministry Team to address issues or ideas.

• Manage appropriate ministry budget lines.

• Attend monthly B-team meetings as needed. (Body, Bridge, Budget, Business)

• Manage your workload appropriately and professionally.

• Delegate responsibilities at his discretion to utilize other staff members’ abilities and gifts.
